Police say Krueger was gunned down during a robbery on Maxwell Street while walking back to his house. Officials say EMS took Krueger to UK Hospital where he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The Commonwealth revealed ballistics testing is complete and DNA evidence should be in by the end of the month.

The judge set a final status hearing for January 15, at which point the matter of bond will be discussed and a trial date will likely be set.

Krueger worked for three years at The Kentucky Kernel, the UK student newspaper. He was a photo editor and had recently returned from photographing the Kentucky Wildcats on the road during the NCAA tournament.
