Missing Person Police Suspect Foul Play in Detroit Woman’s Disappearance

Police suspect foul play after recovering a vehicle early Monday belonging to a 24-year-old Detroit woman who disappeared Friday.

“Our investigation has enhanced significantly,” Police Chief James Craig said Monday of the search for Kajazia Globe, who was last seen leaving work around noon Friday in the area of McNichols and Southfield Service Drive.

Family members filed a missing persons report Saturday, he said.

“As we recovered her vehicle, there was evidence of foul play,” Craig said.

He declined to specify what type of evidence was discovered but repeatedly referred to Globe as a “victim.”

The gold 2003 Chevrolet Impala was recovered around 6:30 a.m. Monday near Chatham and Fenkell, Craig said.

An unspecified amount of money also was taken from Globe’s bank account at a west side ATM by a masked individual, Craig said.

The withdrawal occurred after 5 p.m. Friday, hours after Globe went missing.

“We’re processing some video,” Craig said. “We do not believe it was (Globe making the withdrawal). The person in the video was masked up.”

Craig said police believe the individual is male but can’t be sure due to the person’s face being covered.

Investigators also can’t yet rule out a known acquaintance as the suspect, Craig said.

Craig declined to specify where the ATM is located, but police did say it is on the city’s west side. Globe’s workplace and the location of the recovered vehicle also were on the west side of the city. Police declined to say where the woman worked.

Globe’s bank cards were recovered inside her vehicle, Craig said. There has been no known activity on her cellphone, which has not been located.

“We’re very concerned,” Craig said of Globe’s whereabouts. “That’s why we’re asking the public’s help.”

Investigators worked the case through the weekend before Globe’s vehicle was recovered, assisted by family who were adamant the young woman would not disappear at will, Craig said.

“The family intimated that it was highly unusual for their daughter to just go missing,” he said.

Globe is described by police as a female who is 5-foot-2 and 155 pounds. She has brown eyes, black hair, medium brown complexion and is in good physical and mental condition.

Anyone with information, including those who may have seen Globe’s vehicle prior to its recovery Monday, is asked to call Detroit Police at (313) 596-5840.
