Missing Person Jason Stevens of Lufkin, TX

The Lufkin Police Department is seeking a 36-year-old man reported missing by his father earlier this week.

Jason Stevens was last seen leaving his job at Ross Motorsports on North Timberland Drive around 10:40 a.m. March 2, after he told a co-worker that he did not feel well, according to an LPD press release. Stevens’ father, Bruce, reported him missing Wednesday after Stevens’ boss called looking for him because he had not shown up for work. Stevens’ father said he last spoke to Stevens on the phone the day he went missing.

“He had hurt his hand at work and had surgery on it,” Bruce Stevens said in the release. “Even though he couldn’t work on things, his boss was still letting him come in and take motorcycle mechanic tests on the computer, so he was still getting hours. He was happy about that. He didn’t have any reason to be upset.”

As of Friday afternoon, there did not seem to be any indication of foul play, according to LPD media specialist Jessica Pebsworth. It is the Lufkin Police Department’s policy that an incident report is taken if the missing person does not meet the criteria to be put into a state or national missing persons database.

“That report is given to a detective to make sure the person isn’t in danger,” Pebsworth said in the release. “If they are missing by choice and not mentally ill, a child, elderly or medically dependent, we will do what we can to ensure they are OK. If they’re located, we’ll tell the family our findings, but people are allowed to just leave without telling anybody.”

Stevens is described as 6-foot-1, 160 pounds with short gray hair. He sometimes wears a baseball cap and at times has a beard, although co-workers said he recently shaved.

Anyone with information of Stevens’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Lufkin Police Department’s non-emergency number at 633-0356
