Accident Reconstruction Coroner Id’s Man Killed in Crash

The Fayette County coroner says one man was pronounced dead and another sent to the hospital in the single vehicle accident. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The coroner says a car was traveling outbound on Athens Boonesboro Road when it appears as though the driver lost control. The car rolled over several times and the passenger of the vehicle was ejected and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The passenger has been identified as Robert Nicholas Kaige Rucker, 22. Rucker, known as Nick to his friends and family, was an EKU student. He graduated from West Jessamine High School in 2012. He was a football player.

Rucker was a PFC for the Danville 103rd Brigade Support Battalion.

“The vehicle left the road in the straight stretch and then down in the valley there is a curve, but the car went straight. So, it looks like he couldn’t keep it in the road from the high rate of speed he was traveling,” said Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn.

Right now, Lexington police say its unclear whether or not the driver will face any charges.

“That’s part of the investigative process that reconstruction is doing right now. They’ll be the ones to make that decision,” said Lexington Police Lieutenant Matthew Greathouse.
