Wrongful Death Lexington Man Found Guilty of Manslaughter in Death of Boyfriend

A Lexington man has been found guilty of manslaughter in the stabbing death of his boyfriend.

The Herald Leader reports that 22-year-old Patrick Donaghy was found guilty of killing 40-year-old Todd Shumacher after a fight. Donaghy testified that he was acting in self-defense because Shumacher had beaten and choked him first.

The jury recommended a 10-year-sentence, which is the maximum punishment for manslaughter.

Formal sentencing is scheduled for August 25.
