A Fayetteville man is accused of giving false information to get money from an insurance company, according to the N.C. Department of Insurance.
James Stevie Spears, 44, of the 3300 block of Auburn Drive, was charged Aug. 23 with obtaining property by false pretense and providing a false statement on an insurance application.
Spears is accused of using fictitious information on life insurance applications he filed with Bankers Life and Casualty.
He is accused of submitted 16 fraudulent life insurance applications between August-October 2015, for which he received $4,700.
Spears was released on a written promise to appear in court, the release said.
