Missing Person Missing Toddler Found Safe

After about 11 hours of searching, a 21-month-old boy who had walked away from his home was found safe and sound.

“He was located about two miles from where we are up this gravel road and I was told he was on an old logging road,” said Trooper Robert Purdy with Kentucky State Police.

KSP says that 21-month-old Logain “Bubba” Chumbley walked away from his home on Upper Brush Creek Road southwest of Hustonville around 9:00 a.m.

“He can get from here to that truck in no time I mean he’s a quick little boy he’s always on it,” said Marcie Mull, Logain’s aunt.

Ashley Mull, Logain’s mother, said they searched frantically before calling for help, “it’s unbelievable that he got down this far because he don’t want to get off of momma’s hip like I carry him around all the time.”

The search was narrowed down to Blue Bank Road. KSP was working with the Casey County Sheriff’s Office and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to find the boy.

They had a helicopter and K-9 units were out searching too. Neighbors even got on ATVs and horses to help search for the boy.

Over 100 people were searching for Logain.

“It’s just a tight-knit neighborhood things like this don’t normally happen so we just go you just try to help who ever needs it,” said Amanda Wethington, a search volunteer.

Volunteers found his diaper and shorts separate from him.

Logain was found a little after 8:00 p.m. two miles from his residence.
Troopers say Logain had minor scratches but was taken to Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville as a precaution.
