Fraud Investigation Lexington Police Warn of Donations Scam

Lexington police are warning residents, businesses, and organizations about a man who claims to be collecting donations for different non-profits.

They say that Kenneth Roth, 51, has been soliciting donations for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Angel Tree program, as well as the United Way, Make-A-Wish Foundations, several churches and other organizations.

Police say that they do not think Roth is actually a volunteer or employee of any legitimate non-profit.

He uses a wheelchair and police believe he is currently homeless.

Investigators have received no report of Roth actually getting any money through this scam, and he has not been charged at this time.

Police ask that anyone who encounters Roth portraying himself to be from a non-profit or gave him money under those pretenses should contact police by calling (859) 258-3600.
