The driver of the other vehicle, identified by police as Alexandria Rankin, was uninjured and was taken into custody for second-degree manslaughter and DUI. She bonded out of jail around 2:57 p.m. on Friday.

Rankin paid the full cash bond of $7,500 for the manslaughter charge and $500 for the DUI charge.

Witnesses tell LEX 18 that Rankin ran a red light.

Collision reconstruction units were on scene for nearly nine hours.  The roadway has since reopened.
