Cold Case Reward Offered For Information in 5 Year Old Hit and Run Case

Detectives have never been able to identify the driver who hit and killed a man in a North Lexington neighborhood five years ago.

Lance Newby Jr.’s family is hoping a cash reward could compel someone to come forward.

It was on November 11, 2011 that the 29-year-old was trying to catch a bus on Winburn Drive when an SUV hit him, and the driver took off.

“I just can’t see how someone could run a person over, and keeping going, like it’s nothing,” said the victim’s mother, Jennifer Stigall.

Police have never been able to locate the SUV or the driver.

The family is certain someone knows who was behind the wheel.

“You never know what it feels like, until you lose that son or that daughter,” said Lance Newby, the victim’s father.

“Lance may have had a short life, but when he was here, he did live his life to the fullest,” said Jessica.

They hope their plea strikes a nerve and that help from the public brings new information to light.

If you have information that could lead to an arrest, Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000. You can call in your anonymous tip to (859) 253-2020.

You can text or email your information to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers. Just text “LEXPD” and then your tip to ‘CRIMES.’
