Missing Person Search Continues for Missing Man at Rest Stop

Crews will be heading out first thing Friday morning to continue the search for a man who went missing from a rest area in Whitley County.

Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell said their office got a call around 11 A.M. Tuesday from the man Randall Walker was last with.

He told police the two were on a road trip from Ohio to Georgia and they stopped at the I-75 rest stop in the middle of the night on their way back through.

The friend told investigators Walker went inside to use the restroom while he was helping another motorist with a dead battery.

“After he jumped the car for this man he went to sleep and woke up and Randall Walker was not there and he called 911,” said Harrell.

Sheriff Harrell said the big concern is that Walker’s cell phone, wallet, and his cane were left behind in the vehicle.

“This guy is 54-years-old and he walks with a limp, of course he didn’t take his cane with him which is very suspicious,” said Harrell.

He’s described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds.

He has brown eyes, short grey hair, and was last seen wearing a grey shirt with a black fleece jacket, blue jeans, and hiking boots.

The search will take place at the rest stop in the north bound lanes of I-75 in Williamsburg.

If you think you’ve seen Walker, you’re asked to call (606) 549-6017.
