A mother and son once charged with the murder of a Madison County man were sentenced on lesser charges Thursday.
Police say that Adrian Collins shot Ronnie Kelly in the fall of 2015. Kelly lived with Collins and his mother, Melissa in an apartment on Turpin Drive.
Adrian Collins was sentenced to 20 years in prison for manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence.

Melissa was once charged with murder in the case. She was sentenced to two and a half years for tampering with physical evidence. Police say she hid the gun in a closet and waited to call 911.
Kelly’s family left the courtroom in tears.
