An Owen County woman, Elizabeth Neal, and her two daughters are still missing.
It’s been three nights since they were last seen with the girls’ father. Police say that man, Derrick Mays Thomas, shot Elizabeth’s father and her sister on Friday night before he left. Police consider Thomas armed and dangerous.
When LEX 18 News talked to Elizabeth’s brother, James Neal, on Monday night, he was out of breath and packing, and getting ready to hit the road to try to find his sister and nieces.
Neal says he’s had three sleepless nights since he heard the news from Owen County.

“There’s not been a whole lot of sleeping or eating or anything. It’s all been whatever I can do to try and help this come to a close,” said James Neal.
Police say on Friday night, Derrick Thomas got into an argument with Neal’s father. Then police say Thomas shot Neal’s father, and his sister Amber Neal.
Both are okay, but they’re more worried about Elizabeth Neal and her two daughters, who were last seen leaving in Thomas’ car after the shooting.
“We have absolutely no idea where they’re at. Where they would have gone, and I’m under the impression that she didn’t go willingly,” said Neal.
When we spoke to James Neal, he was frantically packing to follow a potential lead to Wisconsin.
“I don’t plan on stopping tonight. We should be there early in the morning,” said Neal. “We’re gonna start with a few of the smaller towns right around the border, and then work our way in some.”
He doesn’t even know what, if any, ties his nieces’ father has to Wisconsin, but he says he couldn’t just sit and wait for news to come in.
“This is my baby sister and her babies. There’s a lot riding on this. I’ve gotta do everything I can do,” said Neal.
Police say Thomas left the shooting in a 2003 gray Mitsubishi Galant with Kentucky plate 124-VET. Although James Neal will check out the Wisconsin lead, KSP told us that Thomas might be in the Winchester or Mount Sterling areas.
