A 52-year-old man was arrested Thursday, accused of three felony sex crimes against a child that spanned the last five years, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
James Williston Gibson, of Waco, was arrested after a child made a report Feb. 21 about sexual abuse by Gibson at a North Waco home. Swanton said the child is a known acquaintance of Gibson, but the child’s gender and age are being withheld to avoid identifying the victim.

“(Officers) determined that between 2012 and 2017 that this victim had (been sexually abused) on numerous occasions by the suspect,” Swanton said.
After investigation, officers received a warrant for Gibson’s arrest earlier this month. He was arrested Thursday morning and taken to McLennan County Jail.
He was arrested on a first-degree felony charge of sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child and a second-degree felony of indecency with a child.
Gibson was released from custody by Thursday afternoon on $160,000 bond.
