One woman has died following a serious accident that shut down a Jessamine County road.
It happened just after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday on Brannon Road near Legacy Drive in Nicholasville.
Police say the crash happened when a dog in the lap of the passenger got away from him and distracted the driver. She lost control of the car and hit a tree head-on.
The driver, now identified as 47-year-old Julie McGlothen, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries where she later died.
