Wrongful Death Two Men Arrested in Connection to a Shooting Monday

Two men have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting Monday afternoon.

Police charged Dylan Capps, 20, with murder and first degree assault; and charged Keegan Newton, 19, with first degree wanton endangerment.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. police were called to the parking lot of 1081 South Broadway for a shooting.

Justin Lee Jenkins, 19, was located at the scene and officers learned that a 20-year-old male victim had been transported to a hospital in a private vehicle.

Jenkins later died from his injuries.

The investigation revealed that there was a disorder between two groups of people that escalated into gunfire.

Capps was seen fleeing the scene in a car. Police were able to stop the vehicle and take Capps into custody without incident.

Police say Capps shot both victims and that Newton, a friend of the victims, fired shots at Capps’ vehicle as he was leaving the scene.

The suspects are lodged at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Police are not looking for any other suspects at this time.
