Police want to people in McCreary County to be aware of random people claiming to be social workers. They believe at least two people have been pretending to be social workers to try to get personal and financial information from their victims
Police say the fake social workers are calling people in the area and showing up at their homes with a fake badge. This has happened at least three times since mid-April.

Police say the fake social workers are trying to get personal information. Luckily, they haven’t been successful so far. The State Department of Community Based services, which employs social workers, says real social workers will always show state ID when they visit a home.
If something feels off about a situation you are asked to call law enforcement.
