Missing Person Body of Missing Uber Driver Found

CMPD is calling this missing person case that ended in the worst possible way.

Detectives found the body of an uber driver who had not been seen in nearly a week.

Police say they found the body of Marlo Medina-Chavez in a field down a gravel road off of Mt. Gallant Road in Rock Hill, directly across the street from Jeremy Mumma’s lawn care business.

“I watch the news, I seen that, but i mean I thought it would have been in Charlotte, not on a country road in Rock Hill,” said Mumma.

The discovery of Medina-Chavez’s body comes after detectives discovered his stolen SUV in Maryland.

“A lot of work has gone into this, we were all hoping for the best, planning for worst, and unforunately, we have come across the worst in this situation,” said CMPD Maj. Cam Selvey.

Medina-Chavez first disappeared Saturday night.

The husband and father of three left to give a client a ride and never returned home.

CMPD went to that particular field in Rock Hill for a reason Thursday, looking for him.

“We went there specifically based on information that we uncovered during our investigation,” said Selvey.

Mumma says last sunday he noticed a truck coming in and out of the driveway in question.

“I seen a white truck could have been four door but I know it was at least an extended cab white truck come out of there last night between 8:45 and 9:00,” said Mumma.

And its the driver’s behavior that really caught his attention.

“That one did have the headlights turned out and then when he hit the road he turned the lights on, I did notice that on yesterday”

He says detectives never gave him the impression the truck was of interest, but Mumma passed it on anyway, because to him, anyone being on this secluded road was odd enough.

“I’m not a detective but if you went down the road a hundred times you would never notice that gravel road there unless you knew it was there, I do believe that.”
