Electronic Surveillance Captures Armed Robber in Tulsa

TULSA, Oklahoma –

Police are asking for help identifying a man caught by a surveillance camera just before attempting the armed robbery of a Tulsa truck stop.

The attempted robbery happened Thursday, July 19, around 9:40 p.m.

Police said the suspect entered the Flying J Truck Stop at 121 North 129th East Avenue, wearing a paint ball mask.

They said the suspect threw a bag on the counter, demanding the cashier put money in the bag. He then drew a gun and pointed it at a customer, who was standing in line. The customer then took the gun away and the suspect ran away.

The picture TPD released Monday is from a surveillance camera in the parking lot. It caught the suspect before he entered the store and before he put on the mask.

Though the suspect didn’t successfully steal anything in that robbery, police said he may also be involved in a June 26, 2012 robbery of the same store.

In that robbery, two armed men, wearing masks, demanded money and ran out the front door after the clerk complied.
