Arson Investigation Portsmouth Slaying Site

Arson was reported for a second time in eight days at a house where three men were killed earlier this month, the fire department said. The fire was reported at 1:19 a.m. Monday morning at 827 Lincoln St. and was under control at 1:42, said firefighter Anna Silva, a department spokeswoman. A sheet of plywood securing the back door burned, she said. Silva said the house is vacant. Someone set a fire on the porch of the house July 23, the fire department said. Both fires remain under investigation.

Elijah M. Randall, 27, Marcus Allen, 28, and Marcus Parker, 30, died on July 13 after they were shot in the house in a case that remains under police investigation. The home is on the border of the Prentis Place and Prentis Park neighborhoods. Detective Jan Westerbeck, a police spokeswoman, said detectives could not comment Monday on what authorities think is the reason for the fires. Meanwhile, detectives continue to investigate the triple murder. Randall was ordered to be on good behavior for two years last September after he pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon, court records show. He was arrested again March 29 and charged with third-offense carrying of a concealed weapon. A friend of Randall’s said she believes that case might have been a factor in the triple murder.
