Insurance Fraud Former St. Louis County Agent Pleaded Guilty

A former St. Louis County insurance agent has pleaded guilty to 20 counts of fraud and theft charges, the Missouri Department of Insurance.

After an investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department with the support of the insurance department, Wendi Ann Glass pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing, six counts of forgery, eight counts of commission of fraudulent insurance act and one count of attempted stealing, the department said.

St. Louis County Circuit Judge Michael T. Jamison sentenced Glass to three years on each count. The sentences will run concurrently.

After receiving consumer complaints against Glass, the department discovered in 2012 that she was selling homeowners and auto insurance policies without a license and not submitting the premiums she collect from consumers to an insurance company. The department revoked the license of Glass and her company, VMG Inc., in 2011.

Evidence from the department’s investigation was turned over to the St. Louis County Police Department, which launched its own investigation that led to the arrest of Glass on charges for forgery, theft and insurance fraud.

Consumers are encouraged to file complaints against agents or insurance companies they believe have violated Missouri law. Since the beginning of 2012, the department has revoked the licenses of 27 insurance agents

Wrongful Death Arrest Made in 2 Yr Old Elliot County Murder

Two years since 19-year-old Dillon “Nemo” Bryant was found dead in an Elliott County pond, his Carter County family says they are finally able to take steps toward closure as Kentucky State Police announce they’ve made an arrest.

“It’s just something I hope nobody has to go through,” says James Caroll, Nemo’s uncle.

Nemo Bryant went missing in February 2011. Five weeks later, in April, his body was found in a pond on Tarkiln Creek Road in rural Elliott County. He’d been shot to death. After years of pleading for tips, for anyone to come forward with information, Nemo’s family got the news they’d been hoping for.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Acting on an indictment warrant handed down by the Elliott County Grand Jury, KSP arrested 20-year-old Kyle Holbrook for Nemo’s murder. He was already at the Rowan County Detention Center on drug-related charges.

“I cried a lot,” says Nemo’s sister, Codie Carroll of the news. “It’s kind of bittersweet. It’s a step in the right direction, but obviously it’s not going to bring him home.”

Police say lengthy interviews helped lead to the arrest of someone the teenager knew.

“It’s sickening, honestly, because he and Nemo were supposed to be friends,” says Codie Carroll.

But Nemo’s family says they’d had their suspicions of Holbrook from the start. They say he did not attend any of the searches.

“He never called us. He was supposed to be one of Dillon’s best friends, and never even attended the funeral,” says Amy Davis, who is also Nemo’s sister.

Sadly, the woman who worked with police for this day, establishing the reward for information about the case, didn’t live to see an arrest be made. Nemo’s Aunt, Pam Carroll, who raised him, died in a car accident September 2012. But when Detective Toby Gardner told the family news of the arrest,

“He said ‘Look out there and see if there’s dirt kicking with your Mommy.’ I don’t see any, but I’m sure she’s dancing for sure,” says Codie Carroll.

Kyle Holbrook declined to talk to LEX18 from the Rowan County Detention Center. He was being held on $100,000 bond for the drug charges before the murder arrest.

Wrongful Death Body Found in Carson City, 4 Arrested

The body of the reported missing man is believed to have been found this weekend and the suspects are in police custody, but investigators are still continuing the investigation.

Last Thursday morning at around 8:36, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to a “welfare check” at the 700 Block of Silver Oak Drive. The reporting persons at the scene informed Deputies that 62-year-old William McCune, employed by the state, had not reported for work and had missed a scheduled work related flight early that morning. Although no one was located at the apartment residence, the initial Deputy on scene requested the assistance of Detectives based on the obvious appearance of a severe struggle inside the apartment.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Saturday morning at around 8, Sheriff’s Search and Rescue teams located a wrapped body in the Carson River waters just South of Carson River Road. The identification of the body is pending an autopsy but is believed to be that of McCune.

Based upon information gathered by Detectives, an operation was initiated. Carson City Special Enforcement officers were dispatched to Las Vegas where three persons of interest had been reported. The team arrived in Vegas in the early morning hours, as Detectives in Carson City executed search warrants and narrowed their search of other persons of interest remaining in the local area. During the early morning hours of April 6th, 23-year-old Michael Paul Evans, was located and arrested in Carson City. He was booked into the jail on the charges of Murder , Battery with a Deadly Weapon Causing Substantial Bodily Harm, Burglary, and Murder of an Older Person.

The Carson City Special Enforcement Team coordinated their activities with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Three other suspects were taken into custody on the Las Vegas Strip. 20-year-old Makyla L. Blackmore was charged with Burglary; 22-year-old Raul Garcia was charged with Burglary and 20-year-old Anthony Elliot was charged with Murder. All three were arrested on warrants issued out of Carson City courts in connection with the disappearance of McCune. All three persons are expected to be returned to Carson City within the week.

McCune’s missing vehicle remains unaccounted for. The license plates to the vehicle were recovered by investigators this past Saturday. Recovery of the vehicle license plates was associated with the arrest of suspect Evans, arrested in Carson City.

An autopsy was initiated by the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office on Saturday. Details of the autopsy are pending and a positive identification of the body recovered from the Carson River has not yet been established. The Sheriff’s Office is hopeful this identification will be forthcoming in the upcoming week. Although not previously known, the Carson City Coroner’s Office believes that McCune does have next of kin (immediate family) to contact.

Although crime scene processing is expected to continue for the next several days, all Search and Rescue operations have been called off.

This matter remains an open investigation and critical details will remain controlled. As of this date, new evidence and interviews are continuing to be collected. There appears to be no information associating this event with McCune’s employment.

Information pertaining the witnesses and businesses that have been critically instrumental to the capture of the four suspects is being withheld at this time.

At this time, interviews and evidence is beginning to suggest that the possible motive of this event was theft driven by illegal drug use.

Investigators are continuing to collect information on the association of the suspects to McCune. It is known that at least one of the suspects has had direct contact with McCune in the past. There has been no suggestion to this date that entry into the McCune residence was forced.

Anyone with information regarding this event is encouraged to contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Investigations Division, at 887-2500.

Although four persons have been arrested, the investigation remains open as Detectives continue to work with the Carson City District Attorney’s Office. Anyone with any information regarding this homicide is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 887-2500.

Insurance Fraud 2 NY Businessmen Charged

Two businessmen charged with buying legislation from Bronx Assemblyman Eric Stevenson were once accused of a $2.4 million insurance scam involving “medically unnecessary” acupuncture, court records reveal.

A 2011 civil racketeering suit alleged that Igor Belyanksy and Igor Tsimerman blew proceeds from the scheme on luxury cars, meals, liquor and other expenses before Allstate Insurance got wise.

http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

The Brooklyn federal court case was settled on Monday — just three days before the pair were arrested for allegedly bribing Stevenson in exchange for legislation granting them a monopoly on adult day-care centers.

Defense lawyer Edward Blodnick said he was unaware that his clients had been arrested in the bribery sting.

Tsimerman declined to comment yesterday. No one came to the door at Belyansky’s house.
