Wrongful Death Man Makes Guilty Plea in Scott County Double Murder Case

A Scott County man set to stand trial next week on two counts of murder has entered a surprise guilty plea in the case.

Missing Person Man Missing in Daniel Boone National Forest

Crews continued to search Monday for a man they believe lost in the Daniel Boone National Forest since Saturday, but say weather conditions are hampering their efforts.

Family members say they last saw Earl Smith of Clay County Saturday when he was leaving to take a ride in the forest on his ATV.

“This was his last known whereabouts from the family’s description, they say he was coming here to ride and he is usually back by noon when he does that,” says David Watson with Emergency Management.

Search and rescue crews began searching for Smith around 9 p.m. Saturday. “They searched until 4 a.m., then they suspended the search and started again at 10 a.m.,” says Watson. “We have ATV’s, of course, we just have some horse back riders in here and they can give a more diligent search off of the trail a little farther, so we are glad they came.”

Officials said Monday that not as many teams are out searching due to the wet weather. Four teams are out with a total of eight volunteers. They have expanded the search to the next grid.

Arson Investigation in Coatesville, PA

A fire that broke out early Sunday morning in the 500 block of East Chestnut Street was intentionally set inside an uninhabited home that was damaged in a deadly blaze late last year, city authorities said.

According to officials with the city’s police and fire departments, the blaze broke out in a vacant row home at around 4:50 a.m. Police said no one has lived in the residence since it was damaged during a fire last September that killed a mother and her young son two doors away.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

Police said a contractor was sleeping inside the home when Sunday morning’s fire started, but escaped the building unharmed.

Coatesville Fire Chief Jim Lentz said firefighters brought the flames under control within 30 minutes of their arrival. Most of the flames were contained to the single residence, though an adjacent row home did suffer some damage, Lentz said.

No injuries were reported.
Police officials said investigators determined the fire was arson, but withheld details on how the fire was set for investigative reasons. The Coatesville Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from county and state police fire marshals.

On Sept. 18 of last year, 44-year-old Elizabeth Izquierdo and her 5-year-old son, Imanol, were killed when a fire broke out in their home and spread to several adjacent residences, one of which the home where Sunday morning’s fire was set. 32 other people were temporarily displaced by the 2012 fire, and eight were briefly trapped on a roof before they were rescued by firefighters.

Officials said that fire’s cause was determined not suspicious, but did say that the home in which Izquierdo and her son were killed did not have working smoke detectors.

Pedophile Tracking Ex-Lay Minister in St. George, UT Sentenced

A former lay minister in southern Utah has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison on child sexual abuse charges.

Fifth District Judge Wallace Lee imposed the sentence Friday on 65-year-old Kris Lounsbury, who earlier pleaded guilty in the abuse of four young female relatives.

Members of his church congregation were among those who spoke on his behalf at the sentencing hearing in St. George. Lounsbury founded the Living Word Christian Fellowship.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Lounsbury apologized and asked for forgiveness from the victims. He said he prays for them almost every day and “aches inside” when he thinks about the hurt he caused them.

Prosecutors say the victims made a last-minute decision not to attend the hearing because they thought it would be too traumatic.
