Identity Theft Man Arrested at Linden, NJ Walmart

LINDEN — A Newark man claiming to be from Ghana was arrested at Walmart for identity theft and credit-card fraud when he allegedly tried to pick up three laptops bought online, police said.

Gabriel Agyapong, 21, was arrested at the West Edgar Road store Tuesday afternoon and later charged with theft by deception, two counts of identity theft, and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, said Lt. James Sarnicki of the Linden police.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Agyapong was attempting to pick up three Asus laptop computers valued at $458 apiece, which were purchased through two separate credit card transactions online, Sarnicki said. The store contacted the police after checking on the transaction, he added.

Agyapong told the officers that he was only following instructions e-mailed to him by a friend in Ghana, police said.

The police then contacted the two cardholders, who live in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Both said they hadn’t made the purchases – and hadn’t given anyone the authority to make the online purchases, Sarnicki said.

Agyapong told officers he is originally from Ghana. He gave a Newark address as his current residence. Sarnicki said the police department is checking with Immigration Customs and Enforcement to find out more about Agyapong’s background.

He is currently being held at the Union County Jail on $82,500 bail, police said.

The investigation is continuing, police said.

“This credit card fraud is becoming quite common,” Sarnicki said. “It’s a big part of our job right now.”

Missing Person New Tips on Boater Missing From Laurel Lake

32-year-old Clarence Holmes went missing July 5th, 2012 while boating on Laurel Lake when a storm hit. His boat was recovered, but Holmes was never found. Now, new tips are giving the family new hope.

The Laurel County Rescue Squad tried everything. They enlisted outside help and won a grant for new search equipment. Clarence Holmes’s family searched the underwater forest beneath the lake on their own with mining cameras. It’s been excruciating not knowing. Now, there’s renewed hope.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“It made me feel relieved and wonderful that somebody wants to help and we have new information to go on because you can’t help but feel stuck in a rut,” explains Dena Newcomb, Clarence Holmes’s aunt.

A couple boating on Laurel Lake July 5th, the day Holmes went missing, saw LEX18’s report last December, and reached out to Holmes’s mom on facebook. The couple was on the water near Twin Coves during the hail storm, and they didn’t see Holmes’s boat there.

“They should have seen him if that accident happened to him then. They should have at least seen the boat floating,” says Newcomb.

A thirty-second video was taken of Holmes with the storm behind him. He was thought to be near Twin Coves around 3:30 pm, but now that timeline could be re-evaluated. The couple also said they saw a pontoon boat at Marsh Branch with people around it, and they could not confirm or deny it was the family pontoon boat Holmes was using.

“We’re trying to figure out who that pontoon boat belonged to, and who those people were because they had a direct line of sight to Twin Coves and may have seen Clarence come out of Twin Coves,” says Newcomb.

Because even the smallest tip could generate a huge ripple and help find the truth.

Rescuers are coming up with a game plan for a new search. If you were on Laurel Lake on July 5th or think you may have any information, contact Chief Larry Vanhook of the Laurel County Rescue Squad at 606-682-3353.

Pedophile Tracking Falls Township, PA Man Sentenced to 494 Years

A Falls Township man was sentenced to 494.5 to 989 years in prison Thursday for sexually assaulting more than a dozen children.

Judge Diane Gibbons found 36-year-old Walter Meyerle guilty of 170 sex-related charges in back in August 2012, Action News reported.

According to Phillyburbs, Meyerle’s victims each asked the judge Thursday to give the serial child predator the sentence he deserved.

“I can’t give him what he deserves,” Gibbons said. “He deserves to know what it’s like to be a child and feel fear. To be a child and feel pain and humiliation.”

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Judge Gibbons gave Meyerle the maximum allowed by law on most of the 170 charges he faced and delivered it in increments, naming each victim and described in detail what Meyerle did to that child.

Patch previously reported the tattoo artist was arrested in Bristol after a police investigation revealed he traded a tattoo for sex with a 15-year-old girl in 2011. Over the coming weeks and months, more victims—one as young as 4—came forward to police.

The molestations took place in Bensalem, Bristol Borough, Bristol Township and Falls.

Accident Reconstruction Fatal Crash in Estill County

A 75-year old woman died in a two vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in Estill County.
Police said the crash happened at the Madison County Estill line, dead on scene Stephenie Schnittker. Officials said she crossed the center line and hit a van with ten people inside.

Delores Newton, a neighbor of the Schnittker’s said she knew something was wrong.

“I had received telephone calls asking for Dave’s telephone numbers, Stephenie’s husband. It just so happens that Sunday at church they had came by and told me they had cell phone numbers and not a land line anymore,” explained Delores Newton, a neighbor.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

Newton recalled Stephenie as a kind woman.

“Then I would see them at church she was a very talented lady she was an artist. She could play the piano and on Sunday both her and Dave sang in the choir,” stated Newton.

As Dave grapples with Stephenie’s loss, he said he knows she is in a better place. Dave is just one of many people who have lost a loved one on Highway 52.

“That’s a very busy highway and we actually try to give it extra patrol because of the high rate of speed that people travel and the high volume of traffic,” explained Saergant Harvey Baxter, with Kentucky State Police.

Wesley Rose lives on Highway 52. Last April, about a mile up the road, two of his family members died.

“Like I said I know 15 – 20 people that have got killed in the last 30-years on this road, so it’s pretty bad,” stated Rose.

Police said they aren’t sure what caused Schnittker to lose control, but they suspect it may have been a medical condition. We’re told seven of the ten people in van were taken to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

Pedophile Tracking Lawsuit Alleges Abuse by KC Pastor

A lawsuit filed in Jackson County accuses the new president of the Missouri State Board of Education of child sexual abuse, defamation and counseling malpractice.

The civil suit, filed this week in Jackson County Circuit Court by a Kansas City-area woman identified as Jane Doe DL, alleges that the Rev. Stan Archie began committing repeated acts of sexual misconduct against the plaintiff when she went to him for counseling at 15.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Archie, who began his term as Board of Education president this month, is co-founder and senior pastor of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church at 4509 Troost Ave. in Kansas City. The lawsuit is the second in a year alleging sexual misconduct against Archie.

Archie’s actions, the lawsuit says, were “outrageous and utterly repugnant to a civilized society.”

Archie denied the allegations in a phone call to The Star and said it was part of a scheme by former church members to discredit him.

“There’s absolutely nothing that was inappropriate with anyone, and there was nothing that was done without accountability and oversight as a part of our church structure,” he said. “This is a splinter faction from the church that was disgruntled, and in their attempt to defame us they’ll do anything possible. Their objectives are very clear: defaming me and getting money.”

Sarah Potter, spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, said the board had not seen the new lawsuit and had no comment.

Rebecca Randles, a Kansas City attorney who is representing the alleged victim, said she is now 23.

The lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages, alleges that the girl’s family became members of Archie’s congregation when the girl was 5. When she was 15, the lawsuit alleges, her mother sent her to Archie for counseling.

During the weekly counseling sessions, Archie began talking to the girl about sex, telling her to think of him as her “surrogate father” and that he needed to know if she ever had sex with any boys, the lawsuit alleges.

According to the lawsuit, Archie told the girl about sexual positions and about his male anatomy and made lewd comments about his sexual prowess. Archie also told the girl he had been a pimp “and ran a team of girls.”

While the girl was in counseling with Archie, the lawsuit alleges, she lost her virginity and reported it to him. But instead of providing counseling, he provided sex tips, the suit says. Afterward, Archie encouraged the girl to be promiscuous and to report her activity to him, the lawsuit alleges. She became extremely promiscuous and often described the incidents to Archie through Skype on the Internet.

By the time the girl was 17 and 18, the lawsuit alleges, Archie began calling her Princess, bought her gifts and gave her money. In 2010, the girl became pregnant and had a baby, the lawsuit says. During the pregnancy, Archie would Skype with her, telling her she was gorgeous and continuing stories about his sexual prowess. When she showed Archie a picture of her sonogram, the lawsuit says, Archie made a comment about the size of the developing baby girl’s genitals. As the girl watched her baby develop, the lawsuit says, she began to realize that Archie’s behavior was abusive and inappropriate. The baby’s father helped her understand that she’d been “brainwashed,” the lawsuit says.

Throughout the process, the lawsuit alleges, Archie told the girl that he was her pastor, that they were doing nothing wrong, and that he was providing spiritual and emotional counseling.

When the girl ended her relationship with Archie in 2010 or 2011, the lawsuit says, he began a campaign of harassment and defamation, telling church members that she was a liar and had mental problems.

The lawsuit also names Archie’s church as a defendant, saying it had received reports of impropriety regarding Archie and knew or should have known about his propensity “to use his position of pastor to access women as part of his official duties.”

Archie’s attorney, Michael McCausland, said Archie and the church deny the allegations.

“This defamatory lawsuit is filed by the same lawyer who also filed a similar lawsuit attacking the character of Rev. Archie,” McCausland said. “These allegations are false and we expect Rev. Archie and the church to ultimately be vindicated.”

The earlier lawsuit, filed in January 2012 by a woman identified as Jane Doe LK, accused Archie of inappropriate sexual conduct with his former assistant at the Kansas City church.

According to the lawsuit, the woman became Archie’s assistant in 2000 and they became involved in a sexual relationship that developed from counseling sessions he held with her after she revealed to him that she had been sexually abused as a child. When she ended the relationship in 2007, the lawsuit alleged, Archie orchestrated a campaign of harassment and defamation against her.

The lawsuit also named Archie’s church as a defendant, saying it knew or should have known about his “dangerous and exploitative propensities” and failed to protect the woman.

McCausland said at the time that Archie and the church “adamantly deny the defamatory allegations” and called the lawsuit “an obvious attempt to extort money from Defendants.”

Archie was appointed by then-Gov. Matt Blunt to the State Board of Education in 2006. He recently served as vice president of the eight-member board and was elected as president on Nov. 27, replacing Peter Herschend, founder of the corporation that owns Silver Dollar City in Branson. This month, Archie began his term as president and Herschend became vice president.

Archie also is serving his second two-year term on the board of directors of the National Association of State Boards of Education.

Archie, who is married and has three children, serves as board chairman of the Kansas City Leadership Foundation and is owner and principal consultant of Successful Edge Consultants. Archie earned a degree in divinity and organizational leadership at Calvary Bible College and a master’s degree in education at MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Private Detective Farmer’s Calf Found Butchered in Washington County

A Washington County farmer wants to know who shot and butchered one of his daughter’s best show calves more than a week after it went missing from his cattle farm.

Tim Graves told LEX 18 he found the remains of the three-month-old calf on a neighbor’s property. The hide, feet, head and tail of the animal were all that remained.

“The hide was turned inside-out and pulled down over the calf’s head much like you would do if you were skinning an animal,” Graves said. “They came prepared because they would have the knowledge of how to butcher the animal and they brought equipment to butcher the animal.”

http://liarcatchers.com/index.php

The calf belonged to Graves’ 16-year-old daughter, Emilee, who was born with a heart defect. Her first calf when she started showing cattle was born with a heart shape on her head. Her dad aptly named it ‘Emilee’s Dream Heart’. That calf bore four babies, the last one being the calf discovered by Emilee’s father last weekend.

“At first I didn’t believe him,” Emilee said. “I was like ‘You’re kidding, right?’ He’s like ‘No, I’m serious.’ I’m like ‘Oh, my gosh.’ ”

The family believes the people responsible were most likely poachers who acted at night, perhaps mistaking the calf for a deer.

“It’s been hard on our family,” Emilee said. “I just want to say to other farmers to keep an eye on your cattle. You could be the next victim if it happens again.”

The 450-pound calf could have brought in upwards of $5,000 if it was sold to be bred, Tim Graves said. He’s offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Emilee described the situation as a setback but said it wouldn’t deter her from continuing to show cattle.

“I will always keep showing,” she said. “You can’t change the past. I just hope it doesn’t happen again.”

Anyone with information about the case can contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 859-336-5400.
