Identity Theft Georgia Man Sentenced up to 7 Years

A man arrested in Georgia, while carrying a driver’s license and credit card bearing a Carroll Valley man’s name, will spend at least three years in prison for stealing nearly $12,000 through identity theft.

Gary McDonald, 50, appeared Monday in Adams County court and pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft. In exchange for his plea, McDonald agreed to serve a three- to seven-year state prison sentence, and repay $11,800 to PNC Bank for money he withdrew by assuming Ronald McClain’s identity.

Eighteen other criminal counts related to the incidents were withdrawn by prosecutors as part of the deal.

Prosecutors said McDonald in June made six separate withdrawals, in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, from a bank account that belonged to McClain’s mother.

McDonald was arrested in Georgia in July, at which time he was carrying the cards bearing McClain’s name. Prosecutors said also that, prior to McDonald’s arrest, McClain had received a letter from the state of Georgia saying that he needed to report for probation. The letter apparently was the result of the stolen identity.

In sentencing McDonald on Monday, Adams County Judge Michael A. George waived a fine, pointing to the significant amount of restitution McDonald owes.

George ordered the sheriff’s department to transfer McDonald to Camp Hill state prison to be processed as an inmate and begin serving his sentence.

The sentence imposed will give McDonald credit for the time he served in

jail since July 18, following his arrest.

Pedophile Tracking DC Man Arrested in Sting

The former director of family planning and school counseling advocacy groups in the District of Columbia has been arrested for allegedly arranging to have sex with a 12-year-old girl in an online Internet sting.

Scott Richard Swirling, 61, thought he was discussing plans to meet a District man who was offering to let him have sex with his preteen daughter, authorities said.

It turns out Swirling was dealing with an undercover D.C. police officer.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Swirling, of Gaithersburg, was arrested Tuesday and charged with traveling across state lines to engage in illicit sexual conduct, a crime which carries a penalty of up to 30 years.

Swirling is the third white-collar worker — including an FBI analyst — to be arrested in the sting in less than six weeks.

Swirling served as executive director of the American School Counselor Association and the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association before starting his own law firm construction business 10 years ago, according to his website’s biography.

According to charging papers:

Swirling answered an online advertisement on Monday that had been placed by a task force made up of D.C. police officers and FBI agents.

The detective wrote that he was a “taboo dad” with a “12-year-old girl, very perverted.”

Swirling, using the screen name “squiggles 12353,” responded, “Kindered [sic] spirts.”

Over several hours, the two men traded emails discussing their interests in underage girls and traded photos of young girls, including that of the detective’s purported 12-year-old daughter.

The undercover detective offered to have Swirling meet the girl in Northwest Washington after she got home from school.

Swirling agreed but backed off that evening. “I am sure you can imagine that I am a bit concerned about a sting,” he wrote.

He asked the detective to send another picture of his daughter, this time with her holding a piece of paper with his name and that day’s date so that he could be sure he was not being set up by police.

The law enforcement officer then emailed a photo of the purported child holding a piece of paper that read, “Hi Scott, January 8, see ya soon.”

Swirling then agreed to meet at the arranged location and was arrested when he showed up, court documents said.

Pedophile Tracking 63 Yr Old Woman Pleads Guilty

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A judge sentenced a 63-year-old woman to 14 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of child neglect involving the sexual abuse of a nine-year-old girl.

Patricia Woloszynowski plead guilty Wednesday morning, according to a news release from State Attorney Angela Corey’s office.

The release said immediately after entering her plea, a judge sentenced Woloszynowski to 14 years in prison.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Police arrested Woloszynowski in March 2011 after a nine-year-old girl told police a sex offender, Roberg Goenig Young, repeatedly abused her, the release said.

Prosecutors obtained evidence which showed Woloszynonwski knew about the abuse and did not do anything about it.

Assistant State Attorney Alan Mizrahi said, “This is the final conviction in an overwhelmingly sad case. Despite suffering unimaginable betrayal, this child is doing amazingly well in her new home. She recently finished second in a school wide spelling bee and believes that she can conquer anything. I believe she can.”

The release said Woloszynowski is one of five people police arrested in the case.

Christopher Perry was convicted in October 2012 and sentenced to six life sentences on five charges of sexual battery, one charge to lewd or lascivious molestation, one charge of conspiracy to commit sexual battery and one charge of child neglect.

Perry’s wife, Mary Perry, was sentenced to 30 years, the release said, on charges of child neglect ad conspiracy to commit sexual battery.

Robert Young pled guilty to molesting the nine-year-old and faces life in prison, according to the release.

Michael Halveland pled guilty to lews or lascivious molestation and also faces life in prison.

The release said both Halveland and Young are scheduled to be sentenced next week.

Wrongful Death Pulaski County Double Shooting

Police have identified the Pulaski County couple who died in what they believe was a murder-suicide.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at a home along Edwards Road.

The victims have been identified as Billy Eugene Baugh, 54, and Shirley Baugh, 53. They were pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

The Sheriff’s Department says Billy Baugh shot his wife with a handgun before turning the gun on himself. The shooting occurred on the same day as the scheduled funeral for the Baughs’ son, Clarence Baugh, who was killed in a car crash last week in Lincoln County.

Family members told investigators that Billy and Shirley were having trouble coping with their son’s death, and that may have contributed to Wednesday’s shooting.

The victims are both scheduled for autopsies on Thursday in Frankfort.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A North Dakota couple is facing charges in South Dakota for an alleged building scam.

George Nelson is incarcerated at the Minnesota State Penitentiary for a similar scam in that state. An attempt to contact Karla Nelson at a telephone listing in Fargo for the couple was unsuccessful because the number is disconnected.

Fraud Investigation Walmart “Secret Shopper” Scam

CHARLESTON (JG-TC) — A purported Walmart “secret shopper” mail scam is circulating throughout the Coles County area, according to the Charleston Police Department.

A press release issued by the CPD said the scam is being sent through letters asking Coles County residents to take part in a “secret shopper job.”

The scammer requests the person conduct an evaluation at a Walmart store and submit the results to a fictitious email account.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

The person is asked to take the enclosed check and deposit it into his or her bank account, then return the majority of the check amount through a Walmart Money Gram. The press release goes on to say that the scammer provides a fictitious email and name in the hopes that the person will fall for the scam and deposit the check, which is fraudulent, then turn around and send the majority of the money to various locations; in one local incident it was to be sent to Port-Au-Prince.

“The Charleston Police Department wants to make its citizens aware of this scam and others like it. If you feel you have received a similar scam through the mail or through email please shred or delete this information,” the press release said. “These scam artists typically use local bank information to come across as legitimate. Please do not respond to these scams.”

Pedophile Tracking Former Ennis, TX HS Teacher Sentenced

A former Ennis High School teacher was sentenced Tuesday to five concurrent five-year prison terms for asking as many as 20 current and former students for digital images of their genitals.

Joshua Jaggears pleaded guilty to charges of online solicitation of a minor; improper relationship between educator and student; and sexual performance of a child. He was sentenced Tuesday in Ellis County.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Jaggears, 28, taught Agriculture Science at the high school. He was arrested in September, 2011 and charged with soliciting minors. A longtime friend who traveled with Jaggears on agricultural events with the Future Farmers of America learned of the solicitation and told the school district.

His own son was one of the accusers.

Jaggears, who lived in Burleson, taught at the high school for five years. Ellis County District Attorney Patrick Wilson said some students did comply with the teacher’s request, but there was no evidence that any physical sexual activity occurred.

“This brings to close a difficult episode for the students, parents, teachers and administrators of the Ennis Independent School District,” Wilson wrote in a prepared statement. “When multiple public entities are involved in a criminal matter, as with this case, cooperation and communication are key to a successful outcome.”
