Wrongful Death UK Graduate Dr Found Unconscious, Wife Dead

A prominent doctor who graduated from the University of Kentucky college of medicine, was found beaten in his mother’s New Hampshire home Monday. His wife, also beaten, is now dead. Police say it’s the second time the couple has been attacked since November. Investigators are still trying to figure out what happened.

Dr. Eduardo Quesada is anesthesiologist, who graduated from University of Kentucky in 1991.

Police in New Hampshire say say there was no sign of a break-in at the home. Investigators say there was, however, a significant amount of prescription medications found at the scene.

Back in November, police were called to the couple’s million dollar home after Eduardo and his wife, Sonia, were violently attacked, leaving both of them with serious injuries. No one was charged after the November attack. Their three year-old daughter was home at the time but wasn’t hurt, and when police found the couple on Monday, the little girl was staying with relatives.

No word on how the doctor is doing.

Wrongful Death KY Re-Visits Cold Cases for Clues the May Connect Serial Killer

One of the country’s largest police departments is calling on all Kentucky authorities to re-visit their cold case files involving strangled women because they have a serial killer in custody and he was recently captured in Kentucky.

The LAPD calls Samuel Little a wanderer, and his modus operandi is that once he commits a murder, he moves to avoid detection. So, although he was captured in Louisville, he very well may have committed violent crimes in other Kentucky cities.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Los Angeles police have connected Little, who also goes by Samuel McDowell to at least six murders countrywide. They believe he was most active in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, targeting women who led high risk lifestyles. He was active in areas troubled by drugs and prostitutes, and all of his victims were strangled and left in places like abandoned houses or hotels.

After all these years, evidence put into a database to find this alleged killer just came back this past April. Authorities have been trying to find little since, but he’s managed to stay one step ahead of them.

In the meantime, police also say there are victims of Little’s who managed to escape his attacks. They’d like to hear from those women, too.

Wrongful Death Magoffin County Man Murdered Day Before His Wedding

Investigators have released the 911 call made Monday afternoon after a Magoffin County father of two, set to be married Tuesday, was shot and killed.

49-year-old Donnie Allen was found in the yard outside his Salyersville home on Route 40, where investigators said he had been dead for several hours.

Dispatcher: “911, what is your emergency?”
Caller: “Yeah, there’s some people here just now that said there’s somebody dead over there behind Donnie’s.”

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Dispatcher: “The dead body’s supposed to be behind that…”
Caller: “…the barn.”
Dispatcher: “behind the, the wooden barn?”
Caller: “Yeah, that’s what he said. Now, I told him I wasn’t going over there.”

Dispatch: “Who came in there and told you that someone was supposed to be dead over there?”
Caller: “Somebody. I don’t know who he was. Some kin to this woman beside of me.”

The caller, who identified himself as Allen’s neighbor said he later discovered the person who came to him and told him Allen was dead was Daniel Hackworth, the man charged with murdering Allen.

“I’ve always been proud of Donnie,” said Toddie Preston, Allen’s brother-in-law. “Stuff like this shouldn’t happen. We shouldn’t have to go through this.”

“He’s my best friend. He’s the best friend I ever had,” said Janie Mulkey, the victim’s sister. “I’m gonna miss him. I’m gonna miss him.”

Allen’s family described him as an outdoorsy man who loved to fish and hunt and also loved his two boys.

“He’s gonna be gone forever. It’s just the memories. It’s tragic. Tragic,” said Preston.

Salyersville Police said Hackworth was drunk when he killed Allen.

Hackworth declined LEX 18’s request for an interview from the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

Wrongful Death Teen Found Shot Dead in Lower East Side, NY

LOWER EAST SIDE — A 16-year-old teenager was found shot in the chest Friday night and later declared dead at the hospital, police said.

Raphael Ward, 16, who lived in the Baruch Houses, was found near Rivington Street and Columbia Street at 9:10 p.m. by police responding to a 911 call about a male shot, cops said.

Ward was found outside a convenience store with a gunshot wound in his chest, police and witnesses said.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

The teen was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital but declared dead on arrival. Police said an investigation was ongoing.

“He was a good kid. He went to school. He wasn’t a kid worried about getting into trouble. He played basketball,” said Ward’s uncle, Luis Morales, 30. “It’s a tragedy.”

Witnesses and friends said Ward had been hanging out Friday with friends who had been in a fight against rivals from a different housing project a few days before.

Nicholas Ramos, 18, said he and some friends were chased into a pizza shop by the rival group while Ward ran into a bodega on the corner of Rivington and Columbia streets, where he hid out for a few minutes.

“They chased us inside the stores. Then he came back out for a second and that’s when he got shot,” said Ramos, who had been inside the pizzarea.

A cashier at the Tearedhan Convenience Store declined to comment.

Morales said heard on the street that the bullet wasn’t meant for his nephew. “It was somebody he was around, and he happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Relatives at the door of Ward’s apartment on Saturday declined to comment about the death, and a note posted on the outer door of the 12th-floor unit stated “[sic] in this time of great sorrow, the family like some private time alone.”

A neighbor, Tina Chin, 34, who has known the family for 25 years, said everyone was upset, especially Ward’s mother.

“She’s numb,” said Chin. “He was a good kid. He played baseball. He was loved by many. His principal came to the emergency room last night…he was destroyed. He couldn’t believe it,” she said.

She said he rarely got into fights, and the incident surprised her. “It’s a tragedy. It was horrible,” she said. “I’m in a haze.”

Tajanae Brown, 15, who played basketball with the victim, said all of Ward’s friends of Facebook were shocked.

“He was a good person,” she said. “I was surprised because he wouldn’t really be out there [on the corner]…the whole Facebook was talking about it.” Some of her Facebook friends were blaming a nearby gang for the shooting, she said.

Ward went by the nickname “Sadonte,” she said, but she didn’t know if he was in a gang, though he did have friends who were, she said.

“He was tall. He was funny. Everybody knew about him, but he wasn’t a bad kid,” she added.

The Baruch Houses is one of several NYCHA complexes on the Lower East Side that came under scrunity last year for having lax security and for being among the half of all public housing buildings that lack security cameras.

After a police officer, Brian Groves, was shot in the chest July 5 at Seward Park Extention, several elected officials and resident groups made a call to improve security measures.

On Saturday night Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, whose “thoughts and prayers” were with Ward’s family, said he’d allocated funds for cameras at the Baruch Houses in 2012, but there had been delays.

“…Only initial steps have been taken to install them. In the coming days I will be reaching out to NYCHA to expedite the installation of these cameras, which must no longer be delayed,” Stringer said in a release.

State Senator Daniel Squadron, whose district includes the houses, echoed his remorse and urged for better gun control.

“No parent should ever have to face the unspeakable tragedy of losing a child,” he said in a statement. “From stronger gun laws to improved safety at NYCHA developments, we are reminded far too often that the time to act is now.”

Wrongful Death KY Man Found Shot in GA

Deputies in Georgia are trying to figure out what happened to a Kentucky man found shot dead Thursday night. Investigators aren’t positive it’s murder, but Keith Ratliff’s family in Frankfort says they’re sure it is.

Two year-old Jayden Ratliff holds a picture of his dad. It’s from Christmas Eve, and it’s one of the last photos taken.

“It was really hard. To know that he’s going to go the rest of his life without his dad,” Amanda Ratliff says.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Friday morning, she got the call: her husband, 32 year-old Keith Ratliff was found dead. Shot, she says, in his office, hundreds of miles away in Carnesville, Georgia. He moved there from Frankfort about a year ago.

“You know, it just doesn’t really add up,” Amanda says.

“It seems that the way the whole thing unfolded, there was no forced entry and things like that,” says Kelly Ratliff, Keith’s brother.

What happened leaves Kelly asking two big questions:

“Who and why? For a person to take somebody else’s life, I mean why?”

Investigators told a Georgia newspaper Ratliff was shot once in the head, and had been dead for some time when he was found.

Kelly Ratliff says his brother always carried a gun to protect himself:

“For him not to pull out that gun and try to defend himself, he had to feel comfortable around somebody. Either that or he was ambushed.”

Keith’s family says they won’t stop pressuring investigators to figure out what happened.

“We all want to know and we all want justice to be done,” Amanda says. “He had way to much to look forward to in his life.”

LEX 18 called investigators in Georgia handling the case and haven’t heard back. At this point, Franklin County deputies are not involved in the investigation.

Ratliff’s family here in Kentucky are preparing for a Friday funeral.
