Fraud Investigation Boyd County Business Raided

A Boyle County business was raided Wednesday as part of a state and federal fraud investigation.

Throughout the day, detectives removed computers and boxes from “Go Go Gorillas,” a children’s fun center on the South Danville Bypass.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service told LEX 18 that the owner, Christopher Turner is the target of an investigation, claiming he defrauded multiple people out of several million dollars. That official said Turner was not registered to receive investments and that he is believed to have taken money from “Go Go Gorillas” and his other business ventures for his own use.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

“I can’t believe that this is happening,” said Jasmine Clark, an employee at Go Go Gorillas.

Clark claimed she and other employees were owed several paychecks, but she still said these accusations came as a shock to her.

“How can somebody take the money that they put into a business and then use it for their own personal use and have us working everyday constantly, then tell us we get paid, and we get nothing?” Clark said.

Authorities also searched Turner’s home on Colonial Way. A warrant was even issued for another of his business offices.

“Go Go Gorillas” has been closed for renovations and is set to re-open in September with a daycare built for more than 100 children.

Turner has not been arrested. The case will likely go before a federal court.

LEX 18 went to Turner’s house to get a comment from him, but Turner was not home.

Missing Person Frances Marie Cohen of Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. — A Michigan woman is worried that her missing daughter is in danger somewhere in Clarksville.

The last time Mary Adams spoke with her daughter, Frances Marie Cohen, 23, was in April, she said. She filed a missing person report with Clarksville Police on Sunday.

Police spokesman Officer Jim Knoll said Cohen has an arrest warrant on file for violation of a court order. On May 15, Cohen was charged with prostitution and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, he said.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Adams, of Ishpeming, Mich., said the more Cohen is in trouble, the more she runs.

“I just hope she’s safe,” she said. “If she’s arrested, at least I know she’s safe.”

Adams said her daughter moved to Clarksville about a year ago to get away from the treacherous winters in Michigan.

“I’ve done everything I can do in Clarksville,” she said. “All my friends and family in Michigan are very supportive.”

Attempts by The Leaf-Chronicle to reach Cohen’s last known cell phone number were unsuccessful, and her voicemail was full.

Knoll said Cohen’s last known address was 606 Elder St., but her current address is unknown.

A detective was recently assigned to the case, Knoll said.

Adams said she wishes anyone with information would come forward. She said she will be setting up a Facebook page soon so people can post information.

Wrongful Death 40 yr old Murder Case Revisited

When a 40-year-old death investigation out of Morgan County went cold, Kentucky State Police in Morehead never gave up on solving it.

The mystery of 17-year-old Dennis Wayne Buttry’s death had widespread influence in Kentucky, reportedly leading to reforms in group therapy. Now police are hoping anyone who attended the Woodsbend Boys Camp, now the Woodsbend Youth Development Center, will come forward with any information.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

LEX18 was there as State Police investigators exhumed Buttry’s body from a Berea cemetery on May 15th, 2012 for a second autopsy, re-opening a mystery that was front page news across Kentucky in 1972.

The detective working the case now was only five years old when 17-year-old Buttry died from a blow to his forehead at the Woodsbend Boys Camp in West Liberty on January 17th, 1972.

Newspaper articles outline how the coroner ruled the death accidental, but state police had reason to believe Buttry was hit on the head during a group therapy session. A grand jury indicted three teenagers at the camp for willful murder. They also indicted the superintendent and a counselor at the camp for accessory to murder. But no one was ever convicted, and with that the articles stopped appearing. But police never forgot the case.

Investigators say the second autopsy brought forth new clues, and now they are asking anyone who witnessed the incident forty years ago at the Woodsbend Boys Camp to come forward with any information.

All the other people involved are still alive today. The adults implicated at the time are in their 80s now. Police say it’s slowgoing because of legal hurdles in the way.

The Woodsbend Youth Development Center is still running today. It was damaged by the devastating tornado on March 2nd, 2012, but the youth center is operational now.

Pedophile Tracking Matthew McCann

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that Matthew McCann, 24, was sentenced in federal court for distributing child pornography. The Honorable Laurie Smith Camp sentenced McCann to an 80-month term of imprisonment. After his release from prison, McCann must serve a 10-year term of supervised release. McCann was also ordered to pay $2,500 in restitution to one of the victims depicted in his collection of child pornography.

On May 9, 2011, members of the FBI Omaha Cyber Crimes Task Force served a search warrant on a residence where McCann was staying. McCann admitted to downloading child pornography daily for an extended period. He stated that he frequently deleted images and stated a preference for 10-year-olds and older. More than 60 videos of child pornography with a substantial amount involving prepubescent minors engaged in sexual acts were found on McCann’s computer. The FBI laboratory was able to recover encrypted texts from McCann’s cell phone, wherein he engaged in sexually explicit texts with a 13-year-old girl.
