Missing Person Johnny Brown of Georgia Disappeared in Myrtle Beach

Johnny Brown, 44, from Georgia disappeared in Myrtle Beach on August 3rd. He left walking on South Ocean Boulevard walking towards Family Kingdom around 5:30 p.m.

Johnny does have a speech impediment and is difficult to understand. He repeats several phrases including RudyPop, which is what he calls his mother, Blackie, which is his dog’s name, and Julie, which is his sister’s name.

His mother, Ruby and father, John H. Brown have spent the last two weeks walking up and down Ocean Boulevard, hoping that an unfamiliar face turns into his.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“There’s been a time or two that I have sat outside and thought that I’ve seen him and I would sort of walk up to them and look at them to see if it’s him, when it wasn’t,” said Ruby.

Johnny has been spotted along the Grand Strand. He was seen at the BBQ House in Surfside Beach the day after he wandered off. “They said that they seen him and that he had left coming back this way,” said John.

Melanie Curtis is a waitress at the BBQ House. She said, “(We) tried to help him. We could not understand him. We couldn’t make any sense of where he wanted to go.”

His parents say despite his speech impediment, he is extremely friendly.

It’s coming up on two weeks since Johnny has been missing, and his parents say they may have to leave by Sunday if he has not been found.

Ruby is reluctant to leave, but has a message for Johnny. “You just know that your Momma and Daddy love you. We’re waiting on you to come back.”

If you see Johnny or know where he may be, please contact the Myrtle Beach Police Department at 843-918-1382.

Arson Investigation Fergus Falls Man Pleads Guilty

MINNEAPOLIS—Yesterday in federal court in Duluth, a 32-year-old Fergus Falls man pleaded guilty to setting fire to another person’s car on the Red Lake Indian Reservation. Kevin John Ehrich pleaded guilty to one count of arson. Ehrich, who was charged June 5, 2012, in a superseding indictment, entered his plea before United States District Court Judge Richard H. Kyle.

In his plea agreement, Ehrich admitted that on March 28, 2010, he set fire to a 1991 Oldsmobile, destroying it to conceal that he had stolen it. Ehrich also admitted removing the vehicle’s identification number (VIN) in an effort to obstruct any subsequent investigation.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

For his crime, Ehrich faces a potential maximum penalty of 25 years in prison. Judge Kyle will determine his sentence at a future hearing, yet to be scheduled. This case is the result of an investigation by the Red Lake Tribal Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Clifford B. Wardlaw.

Because the Red Lake Indian Reservation is a federal-jurisdiction reservation, some of the crimes that occur there are investigated by the FBI in conjunction with the Red Lake Tribal Police Department. Those cases are prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Drug Dog Sweep Percy L Melton Arrested

On Tuesday, August 14, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Cpl. Kevin Hoover conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound on I-10 between Vinton and Sulphur for a traffic violation.

When the driver of the car, Percy L. Melton, 40, 2909 Charles Street, Houston, Texas, began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Cpl. Hoover asked for permission to search the car and she refused.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

After Cpl. Hoover’s K-9 “Mako” alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the car, a search was conducted and approximately 53 pounds of marijuana wrapped in cellophane and trash bags, with an estimated street value of over $120,000, was recovered from two duffel bags in the trunk of the car.

Melton was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Her bond is still pending

Insurance Fraud NY Businessman Charged

A businessman who owned fleets of commercial vehicles in New York is accused of defrauding insurers of at least $10 million.

The defendant, Scott Sanders, is charged with submitting fraudulent insurance applications to get lower rates. He was arrested and arraigned last Friday.

Authorities said that from 2003 through 2012, Sanders controlled fleets of commercial vehicles that were garaged and operated in New York City.

http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

During that time period, authorities say, he submitted fraudulent insurance applications to auto insurance companies — through both the New York Automobile Insurance Plan and the open market — that claimed that his vehicles were garaged and operated outside of New York City.

Based on these misrepresentations, the insurance companies issued policies for the vehicles at lower premiums than the vehicles would have been eligible for if the true location of the vehicles’ garaging and operation had been provided.

Sanders also helped other commercial fleet owners whose vehicles operated in New York City obtain insurance at lower premiums using the same misrepresentations about garaging and operation locations. As a result of his scheme, officials alleged, insurance companies were defrauded of over $10 million in premiums.

Sanders, 43, of Saddle River, New Jersey, is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, five counts of mail fraud, each of which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, and one count of aggravated identity theft, which carries a mandatory minimum, and consecutive sentence, of two years in prison.

“As alleged, for nearly a decade, Scott Sanders engaged in a scheme to defraud a host of insurance companies to the tune of at least $10 million. He will now be held to account for his conduct,” said Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Bharara’s office announced last Friday the unsealing of an indictment charging Sanders with participating in a nine-year auto insurance fraud scheme to obtain substantially lower premiums for commercial vehicles he owned and controlled.

Since 2003, New York State has required owners of fleets of commercial vehicles, including livery cars and ambulettes, to obtain commercial auto liability and physical damage insurance coverage.

The premiums typically charged in connection with such coverage are based, in part, on where the vehicles were garaged or operated. Companies charge substantially higher premiums for automobiles principally garaged or operated in New York City.

Owners of livery fleets typically obtain auto insurance through the voluntary insurance market or, if that is not an option, through the New York Automobile Insurance Plan (“NYAIP”). The NYAIP assigns policy applications to insurance carriers doing business in New York State, who are then required to provide insurance coverage to the applicant.

Fraud Investigation New License Plate Agency Opens After Fraud

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A new license plate agency is opening in Greensboro Tuesday morning, nearly a year after another LPA closed in a fraud investigation.

The North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles said the new office, at 2218 Golden Gate Drive, will begin operating at 9 a.m. Monday. It’s in the same shopping center with the office that shut down in September 2011, after employees there were investigated for notarizing blank documents that could result in illegal vehicle transfers.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

The new LPA is operated by another contractor, and is expected to relieve congestion in the county’s two other agency offices. Locations, off West Market Street in Greensboro and Westchester Drive in High Point, have experienced increased traffic since the third LPA closure last year.

The DMV estimates around 153,000 transactions were made at the Golden Gate office location in 2010.’

The phone number for the new office is (336) 275-7715.

Missing Person Ronald Ernesto Sanders Now a Fugitive

A search for a missing man switched to a manhunt for a fugitive Monday.

The Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office has been looking for Ronald Ernesto Sanders, 46, since Friday in a missing-person investigation. Sanders has not been heard from since Aug. 2, when he left a Muskogee house at 1611 Fairmont St.

While gathering background on Sanders’ possible whereabouts, Sheriff’s Investigator Faye Banks learned that he is wanted in a $100,000 arrest warrant.

Banks turned over the information on the warrant to the U.S. Marshals Service.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Deputy U.S. Marshal Dan David said: “We don’t consider him a missing man. Certainly, we don’t want anything bad to happen to the man, but we consider him a fugitive.”

Online court records show Sanders was charged Oct. 23, 2009, with first-degree burglary and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

David said the Marshals Service had “adopted” the case because of the severity of the charges.

A court document states that Sanders entered a house at 1128 Turner St., occupied and possessed by John Hollifield, on Oct. 5, 2009. It says Sanders entered through the front doorway “with the intent to commit the crime of assault and battery.”

Inside the house, Sanders allegedly struck a juvenile, identified as R.H. Jr., with an aluminum baseball bat.

Banks said that Sanders, who was living in Florida, returned to Muskogee in late July to visit family. He disappeared a day before he was expected to return to Florida.

Banks said she drove through the neighborhood where Sanders was last seen and told residents to report suspicious sights, activities or smells.

Banks said a car rental business already had picked up the car Sanders drove. Sanders’ luggage — a suitcase and two paper sacks — sits in the hallways of the sheriff’s investigations office.

“Still haven’t heard from anyone about him,” Banks said. “Still wondering what happened.”

Sanders is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 155 pounds with brown eyes and gray hair. He moved to Florida from Muskogee in 2009, Banks said.

David said anyone with information regarding Sanders’ whereabouts can call the Marshals Service at (918) 687-2523.
