Wrongful Death Bob Snow

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — Police said they’re stumped on the case of a missing man’s body found in the Elk River and need public help to solve the crime.

The body of 55-year-old Bob Snow surfaced in the river Saturday morning. Police said there was duct-tape on the body when a group of boaters spotted it.

“We’re all sitting there scratching our heads saying, ‘why would somebody want to kill Bob?” Sgt. Bobby Eggleton with Charleston Police said.

Snow had been missing since Wednesday night. His car and cell phone were found the next day off of Westmoreland Road.

Police said they have been busy checking into Snow’s background and activities but haven’t found anything suspicious.

“From everything we know right now, Bob Snow was a pretty good guy,” Sgt. Eggleton said. “We haven’t found anybody to tell us he was a bad guy. Which makes it difficult for us.”

They said Snow spent 24 years in the Air Force and has two sons that live in Arizona. Snow stayed with his girlfriend in Charleston, and neighbors told WSAZ.com that he lived quietly.

Police said they normally discover leads on homicides within 24 hours but remained stumped on this case, the first slaying of 2012.

“When a guy dies that everybody loves, it’s pretty hard to solve that one,” Sgt. Eggleton said.

If you knew Snow or may have any information at all, police are counting on your help. They are especially interested in talking to people who live off of Westmoreland Road and may have home surveillance cameras.

Electronic Surveillance Catches Man Trying to Steal ATM

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — This is the suspect Southside grocery employee Vicky Singh caught on tape launching a rock into the window of the store.

“The cops said show me the video”, said Singh.

The rock thrower was apparently trying to steal the A.T.M. machine, but he set off the alarm. The thieves left before police showed up , but they did not have enough time so they left empy handed. But these were some pretty bold bad guys.

http://liarcatchers.com/electronic_surveillance.html

“They came back and tried to break the window again”, said Singh.

As if Singh’s video was not enough help to police, when they came back for a second try, Singh did some crime stopping of his own.

“I followed them like twenty blocks”, said Singh

Singh was on the phone with police dispatch while he was following the failed ATM snatchers and they told him not to take this into his own hands and to return to the store.

“They said never follow them they will shoot and kill you”, said Singh.

But singh was able to get the license plate number and gave it to police and he is confident they will catch this guy soon.

“I think they will catch them soon”, said Singh.

As my story was running, according to the owner, the man who was in the video throwing the rock showed up. Right now police are reviewing the tape and the suspect is in police custody in the back of this police car.

Arson Investigation 6 Fires in 12 Hours in Lexington

An area of Lexington plagued by dozens of arsons earlier this year has gone on alert once again, following six suspicious fires over a 12-hour period.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, the first fire was set in a dumpster around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Terrace View Drive. Over the next 12 hours, there were fires in two more dumpsters, a vehicle, a large shed, and the biggest, according to the department, was in a cottage on Hill Rise Court, that is part of Messner’s Home.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

“I don’t understand why somebody would start so many fires. It’s ridiculous,” said Preston Cooper, a resident of the Hill Rise area. “It makes me terrified. I mean, you don’t know what to think. You never know what people are gonna do and it’s scary really.”

“They need to hurry up and catch whoever is doing them, man before some bodies come up burned,” said Andre Cole, another Hill Rise resident. “I hope they catch them though, for real. Do away with this.”

Ray Giattino, 45, a resident of Messner’s Home was taken into custody Sunday for psychological evaluation and crews said he would be charged with arson for the cottage fire.

Crews said they are looking into whether Giattino was involved in any of the other five fires, or the dozens of suspicious fires that plagued the Hill Rise area back in January, when vehicles, apartment complexes, and homes were targeted.

These fires remain under investigation. The fire department tells LEX 18, more arrests are possible.

Accident Reconstruction Deborah Rodgers Dies

The Midway community is mourning the death of a Woodford County woman. She died while riding a moped Friday night.

The accident happened along Woodlake Road. Officials say Deborah Rodgers drove into a tree about 3 miles west of Stamping Ground in Scott County. It was just after 8:00 and it all took place right outside Tony Hammons’ home.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

“It didn’t appear that they were speeding. I think she just got out of that curve and wasn’t familiar with the road and lost control of the bike,” says Hammons.

Hammons works and lives on Woodlake Road as a welder. He was backing out of the driveway when he and his friend heard the crash. “We were were first on the scene, the bike was still running,” remembers Hammons. “The lady was lying on the ground unresponsive.”

Hammons and his friend ran over, turned off the moped and called 911. “Her boyfriend realized that she was no longer following and he came back, and he was pretty shaken up,” says Hammons.

The county coroner says Rodgers leaves behind a 16-year-old daughter.

Private Detective Naked Man Eating a Man’s Face

One man was shot to death by Miami police, and another man is fighting for his life after he was attacked and his face allegedly half eaten, by a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway off ramp, police said.

The bloodshed began about 2 p.m. when a series of gunshots were heard on the ramp, which is along NE 13th Street, just south of The Miami Herald building. Witnesses said a woman saw the two men fighting and flagged down a police officer who was in the area.

http://liarcatchers.com/index.php

The officer, who has not been identified, approached and saw that the naked man was actually chewing the other man’s head, according to witnesses. The officer ordered the naked man to back away, and when he continued the assault, the officer shot him. The attacker continued to eat the man, despite being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.

Miami police were on the scene, which was just south of The Miami Herald building on Biscayne Boulevard. The naked man who was killed lay face down on the pedestrian walkway just below the newspaper’s two-story parking garage. Police requested The Herald’s video surveillance tapes.

The other man was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, according to police. Their identities were not released.

The incident, which came as crowds descended upon South Beach for the annual Urban Beach Week hip-hop festival, snarled traffic on the causeway for several hours.

In a text message, Javier Ortiz, spokesman for Miami police’s Fraternal Order of Police, said the officer who fired the fatal shots was “a hero.”

“Based on the information provided, our Miami police officer is a hero and saved a life,’’ he said.

Sergeant Altarr Williams, supervisor of Miami police’s Homicide Unit, said a man doesn’t have to be armed to be dangerous.

“There are other ways to injure people,’’ Williams said. “Some people know martial arts, others are very strong and can kill you with their hands.’’

Missing Person Mark Wilson Anderson

The founder of the Tempe Improv has been missing for two weeks, according to a private investigator hired to help find him.

Mark Wilson Anderson, 60, was reported missing by his wife on May 12, said Thomas Martin, a private investigator in Newport Beach, Calif.

Days earlier, Anderson announced the Tempe Improv would soon close after more than two decades of comedy. Its final show was Saturday night.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

During its run, the Tempe club presented such comics as Jerry Seinfeld, George Lopez and David Spade. Anderson publicly blamed competitor Stand Up Live, which opened in Phoenix in 2011, for the loss of contracts with several comedians and ultimately dwindling patrons.

Officials did not state if the club closure was a factor in the missing-person investigation.

Martin said he and the Oklahoma City Police Department have been searching for Anderson, who was last seen driving a silver 2011 Dodge Durango with Arizona license plate AWE8050. Anderson is described as White, with gray hair, brown eyes and glasses, and he is based in Phoenix and Oklahoma, Martin said.

Private investigators have been monitoring Anderson’s credit-card transactions but have had no recent activity. Anderson is believed to have visited six states in the past two weeks: Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Texas and Oklahoma.

A missing-person flier states Anderson may be in need of medical attention but did not list a medical condition.

“His medical condition has set in motion circumstances that he believes he is under some sort of threat,” Martin said. “He may be suffering from some delusion.”

Oklahoma City police officials could not be reached for comment.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oklahoma City Police Missing Persons Unit at 405-297-1129 or Thomas Martin, private investigator, at 800-577-1080.

Fraud Investigation Stephen Tanabe, Former Danville Police

Stephen Tanabe, a former Danville police officer and Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputy, pleaded not guilty in federal court Friday to new charges stemming from his alleged involvement in setting up drunken driving arrests.

Tanabe, 49, has now been charged with four counts of wire fraud in addition to the four charges filed against him last December accusing him of aiding former private investigator Christopher Butler in setting up the DUI arrests of men involved in divorce cases, according to court documents.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

According to federal prosecutors, Butler paid Tanabe with cocaine and a handgun in exchange for his help in 2010 in arranging DUI “stings” in which he arrested husbands or ex-husbands of Butler’s private investigation firm clients.

Tanabe’s attorneys have maintained that the Alamo resident is innocent of the charges, even after Butler admitted to the illegal scheme in federal court earlier this month.

Butler, 50, pleaded guilty to felony conspiracy charges, extortion and illegal wiretapping and charges that he stole drugs from law enforcement evidence lockers along with former Central Contra Costa Narcotics Enforcement Team Commander Norman Wielsch, also 50, who is awaiting trial.

Also charged in connection with the CNET scandal is San Ramon police officer Louis Lombardi, who was sentenced earlier this month to three years in federal prison in exchange for admitting his theft of more than $40,000 during searches of suspects’ homes and for information about his co-defendants.
