Mark Zuckerberg body guard

It is an unavoidable downside to becoming the world’s youngest billionaire.
But international fame has forced Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to hire a 24-hour personal security team.
Like many A-list celebrities, the 27-year-old is now so well-known that he has a bodyguard permanently parked outside his house in Palo Alto, California.

http://liarcatchers.com/executive_protection.html

Mr Zuckerberg’s domestic security arrangements have come to light after fellow online entrepreneur Drew Houston, the founder of web-based file-sharing service DropBox, recalled a recent visit to his home.
Mr Houston, 28, told Forbes magazine that the guard stationed outside Mr Zuckerberg’s property caused him to consider the pitfalls of unparalleled success.
He said: ‘I’m not sure I want to live that life, you know?’
With a staggering fortune of $13.5billion, the Facebook CEO only treated himself to the £7million five-bedroom Palo Alto house – his first home – in May.
The house is believed to be a 5,617 square-foot property in the Crescent Park neighbourhood – a convenient ten-minute drive from Facebook’s offices in Menlo Park.
Until then, the computer genius had been living in a relatively modest two-storey house on a street that neighbours described as ‘absolutely average’.
Mr Zuckerberg is sharing his new house with his girlfriend of seven years, Priscilla Chan. 1903 home with its outdoor walls and trees offers far more privacy than his former 3,800 square-foot rented house.

An entertainment pavilion with outdoor fireplace and built-in barbeque has been added along with a salt water swimming pool and spa.
According to information from the estate agent earlier this year, a wide rocking chair porch at the front of home leads to an impressive entrance hall and reception area.

There is a large living room, with a banquet hall sized dining room and wood-panelled family room. The large kitchen opens into a glass sun porch. The house has five bathrooms
Zuckerberg has lived in Palo Alto, California almost continuously since he moved Facebook to Silicon Valley straight from his Harvard dorm room in 2004.

Despite the great success of the site, which now has 600million members, the New York dentist’s son has always previously lived in rented houses.
Tyler Winklevoss, one of the Harvard twins who claimed Mr Zuckerberg stole their idea for Facebook, was quoted as describing him as ‘the poorest rich person I’ve ever seen in my life’.
Even with the move to the larger mansion, Mr Zuckerberg’s home is still dwarfed by those of his Silicon Valley rivals.

Oracle chief executive Larry Ellison’s house is 8,000 square-foot and Microsoft founder Bill Gates lives in a home that is an impressive 66,000 square-foot.

..By William Browning
– Tue, Oct 18, 2011..There is new twist in the case of missing 11-month-old Lisa Irwin of Kansas City, Mo. Reuters reports the baby’s mother, Deborah Bradley, admitted Monday she was drunk and blacked out the night her baby disappeared from her crib. Lisa Irwin has been missing since the overnight hours of Oct. 3 into Oct. 4.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Surveillance video shows Bradley walking out of a store with a box of wine at 5 p.m. Oct. 3. She didn’t admit to being drunk until two weeks after the baby was missing.

Adding to the drama is the family has hired high-powered defense attorney Joe Tacopina of New York. At one time, Tacopina was the attorney of Joran Van der Sloot, who was accused of murdering Natalee Holloway. A $100,000 reward has been offered by an anonymous benefactor for any information leading to an arrest. “Wild Bill” Stanton is a private investigator from New York who says someone has donated the money to help solve the case.

The case is one more of a handful of missing persons cases that take weird twists and turns. Here is look at other high-profile incidents of missing people in the U.S.

Pedophiles look for your photos

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Family pictures uploaded using the popular iPhone Application, Photobucket can get stolen and posted to pedophile websites.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

April Miller’s husband uploaded 999 family pictures using the application called on his iPhone. Many of the pictures were of their two sons, who are both under the age of 12. Her husband didn’t know he had to click the ‘privacy’ button.

Miller says she knows the pictures had been circulating for at least a few days before she found out. Miller got a text from someone saying they found the pictures of her sons on the Internet.

Miller called 911 and filed a police report.

“They (police) found one of the sites that my son was on,” Miller said. “He said it was on, what he called, ‘A gay pedophilia site’ where people could make comments.”

Even though the website was shut down it didn’t stop the pictures from continuing to circulate.

Miller says she’s had to change her family’s everyday routine. Her sons can’t take the bus every day and they have to take different routes home from school. It’s because Miller is afraid, the people, who go on the pedophile websites, will track her sons down in real life.

“Had my husband would have known to put the privacy on, he would have done it,” Miller said.

Miller hopes to serve as a reminder to other parents what happens when privacy settings aren’t set properly.

In order to protect pictures via websites like Photobucket, customers have to manually go in and click ‘private’ in the settings. Otherwise, the companies make the pictures public.

lohan gets served

Lindsay Lohan’s day in court on Wednesday began with yet another legal woe – she was served a lawsuit from the Betty Ford Center staff member who was allegedly attacked by the actress last year.

http://liarcatchers.com/process_service.html

The Mean Girls star had just arrived at the Los Angeles courthouse for a progress hearing into her community service when a process server handed her paperwork from Dawn Bradley’s lawyers.

Bradley previously filed the lawsuit in July, claiming Lohan grabbed her wrist and twisted it when she tried to give the actress a breathalyzer last December, when the star was a patient at the California clinic.

Bradley suspected Lohan had been out drinking with friends, which is against Betty Ford Clinic policy, and she insisted on administering a test to make sure.

The former clinic employee wants at least $1 million in damages, claiming she suffered “great mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering” from the alleged assault.

Hours later, Lohan was back behind bars after Los Angeles judge Stephanie Sautner revoked her probation for failing to complete community service handed to her following a shoplifting conviction earlier this year.

The actress posted bail and walked free later less than an hour after she was led away from court in handcuffs.

Selena Gomez Shops American Eagle

Justin Bieber may have spent $1 million on Selena Gomez, but she’s a bit thriftier. The Wizards of Waverly Place star visited an American Eagle Outfitters store in Saskatoon, Canada on Tuesday and spent about $100 on the Biebs.

According to a report from Hollywood Life, Selena was enjoying a day off from performing. She is in Canada with her We Own the Night concert tour. A bodyguard accompanied her into American Eagle and she did a bit of shopping for a gift for Justin Bieber.

http://liarcatchers.com/executive_protection.html

“She came in with her bodyguard, said hi to everyone, and was really friendly,” a store clerk reported. “She looked really pretty and was just as down-to-earth as could be.”

So what exactly was in her shopping bag when Selena Gomez left American Eagle?

It seems she bought something for herself–a pair of “gray cuffed sweater booties.” Those set Selena back $69.50. And for her beloved? She bought Justin a “dark heather gray fleece hooded jacket.” That cost $99.50.

Certainly there’s a big difference in the amount of money that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber make. But after reportedly spending about $1 million on her, is she being a bit frugal?

It’s actually rather refreshing to see someone like Selena Gomez shopping in stores that average people can typically afford to shop in. She clearly knows that money doesn’t buy love (as some speculate Justin Bieber may have been doing with his lavish gifts for Selena) and wanted to treat her boyfriend to a nice gift.

It’s really very sweet that on her day off from performing, Selena Gomez took the time to choose a gift she thinks Justin Bieber will enjoy. And hopefully once his South American concert tour wraps up, he’ll arrive in Canada to spend some time with Selena–where he’ll most definitely need that new warm jacket!

Executive Protection needed

When he’s not buying futuristic Nikes or making up with his buddy Wale, Kid Cudi is performing and interacting with his fans. For some reason when Cudi is on the stage, his fans become fanatics and feel like being a part of his show.

http://liarcatchers.com/executive_protection.html

Young Scottie has now become infamous for confrontations with audience members, but this time at his show at Temple University it was his security that intervened.
A dude jumped on stage from the side and was asked “What are you doing?” a few times by the Man on the Moon. The concertgoer wasn’t swift enough with a response and simply held up his hands as if he just wanted to get close, show love and hopefully spark a reaction from the rapper.
Instead he got an open field tackle that would have made any linebacker proud

Avoid Vicarious Liability

Vicarious liability can add new meaning to the term “special relationship” and cause the accused party to feel anything but special. These special relationships can exist between husbands and wives, and parents and children. In a business setting, vicarious liability typically occurs within the construct of an employer-employee relationship.

The legal theory supporting vicarious liability is that the employer is responsible for the actions of employees who are carrying out their assigned duties—and as always, the court will not accept ignorance as an excuse. The employer is also responsible for carrying out background checks. Examples include a security guard who exerts excessive force while policing a facility, a parking attendant who injures a customer while driving at an unsafe speed and a warehouse worker who injures a fellow employee while recklessly using equipment on which he hasn’t been properly trained.

http://liarcatchers.com/background_checks.html

Vicarious liability can occur whether an employee is operating a backhoe or installing malicious computer code. The fact that it can present in so many different ways adds to the challenge of guarding against it. Vicarious liability can also arise when an employee carries out his regular duties on behalf of his employer in an unlawful manner.

Some other examples of vicarious liability at the workplace or at a worksite:

While on his way to meet with a client prospect, a sales representative cheats a yellow traffic light and collides with another car in an intersection. Because his employer had not been pulling MVRs, he had not realized the sales representative had a high frequency of points. He also had a DWI. The employer learned his lesson, but it was too late to avoid charges of vicarious liability.
Due to an increased seasonal workload, a company specializing in holiday gifts engages a temporary worker. Because the company did not run a background check, it was unaware this worker had a history of identity theft. While using the company’s computer, the temporary worker steals additional identities.
An employee of a tree removal service has a known history of substance abuse. Because it is the busy fall season, he remains on the work roster. While under the influence, he makes the wrong cut and a tree limb falls on the roof of a parked car. Meanwhile, someone had been texting while sitting in that car.

Website to find a missing person

There is a place where the lost can be found.
Long before Lisa Irwin vanished from her Kansas City home, there was another desperate search in Missouri for a little girl. Her name was Elizabeth Gill. On the afternoon of June 13, 1965, Elizabeth was in her family’s front yard in Cape Giradreau. It was the last time the 2-year-old was seen alive.

Scott Kleeschulte also disappeared in Missouri. On June 18, 1988, the 9-year-old freckled face boy was walking down a street in St. Charles County. To this day, nobody knows what happened to him.

The three cases, separated by decades, share a common bond with thousands of other files accessible to the public on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System website.

http://www.namus.gov/

Known as NamUs, the vast national registry lets relatives, law enforcement, victim’s rights advocates, and anyone scan the records and search for information that could help solve these heartbreaking mysteries.

NamUs, which is run by the National Forensic Science Technology Center, is under the direction of the National Institute of Justice.

Story: $100,000 reward in Lisa Irwin disappearance
“We know that NamUs could really be the key to making a difference in the lives of families that have been waiting and waiting to find missing loved ones,” said Kristina Rose, deputy director of the National Institute of Justice

Advertise | AdChoicesAdvertise | AdChoices

.There are more than 8,800 total missing persons cases on NamUs, of which 75 percent remain open, including one that goes back to the Great Depression.

‘Really cold cases’
Joseph Lawrence Halpern was 22 on Aug. 14, 1933. That was the day he disappeared while hiking in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park. The NamUs website indicates Halpern was wearing a light blue shirt, brown trousers and was carrying an army backpack.

“Many are really cold cases,” Rose told NBC News, “but the more people you have looking at them and make the connection and build bridges to share information, the chances become much higher in solving those cases.”

There are many familiar names in the NamUs system, names like Lauren Spierer, the Indiana University student who vanished last June. The case of Etan Patz, who was the first missing child to appear on a milk box, is also detailed in the database.

“Etan was last seen at 8:00 a.m. at Prince and Wooster Streets going to the school bus stop,” the NamUs information indicated. “He was wearing a black cap, a blue corduroy jacket, blue pants, blue sneakers, and carrying a blue bag with elephants on it.”

NamUs said it has helped solve 62 missing and unidentified person cases, including that of Paula Davis.

Video: Home videos released of missing baby Lisa (on this page)
“She went missing in 1987 out of Kansas City, Missouri and 14 hours later a body was found in Ohio,” Rose said.

In 2009, after watching a public service announcement for NamUs, Davis’ sister searched the database and ultimately determined that the body discovered in Ohio was that of Paula Davis.

NamUs gave her an answer. But many other families are still waiting for one, including that of Jamie Peterson.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The 30-year-old Pittsburgh mother was home Sept. 26 when her children went to school. When they returned in the afternoon, Peterson was gone.

Her file, #12519, was entered into NamUs last week.

“I think there’s always hope,” Rose said, “and that’s what NamUs does, it gives people hope that these cases will be solved.”
