Police in Georgetown are looking for a man after he robbed a Dollar General.

Officers say the the incident happened Saturday night just as the store was near closing time.

Officials say the man was wearing a black ski mask walked into the store on Slone Drive around 9:40 p.m. demanding money.

The gunman told cashiers to lock the doors and then demanded all the cash.

No injuries were reported.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating a homicide after a Saturday evening shooting that left one man dead. It happened on Tips Lane behind Sam’s Restaurant shortly before 7:30 p.m.

According to the Scott County sheriff, the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Jeremiah Otaveous Washington of Memphis, TN. The sheriff says Washington was shot twice in the chest.

Deputies say they are looking for two men who took off in a vehicle after the shooting.

No arrests have been made.

A man is in custody after an all night standoff with deputies and SWAT team members in Boone County.

It started around 11:30 Saturday night at the Crestview Lakes Villa Mobile Home Park on Hazel Drive. A caller reported a domestic situation between a resident and her adult son.

When officials arrived, 33-year-old Brett Cunningham barricaded himself in a bedroom and threatened deputies.

After 9 hours of unsuccessful negotiation, the SWAT team gassed the bedroom and took Cunningham into custody. He was taken to a hospital in Florence for a psych evaluation, and is likely to face criminal charges.

Joyce Roberts, 37, of Alkol, WV has been missing since January 17th, and was last seen in Dunbar, WV. She has been described as having brown hair, brown eyes, standing at 5’8″, and weighing 220 lbs. Her vehicle was found in Dunbar on the 19th, but she was not with the vehicle and has still not been seen.

A man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for the attempted sex trafficking of a child on Friday after the Department of Homeland Security and Amarillo police coordinated a sting.

Xzavion Dayshaun Ragsdale, aka “Yung Billy,” 19, was arrested in April after attempting to recruit an undercover agent posing as a 15-year-old girl to become a prostitute.

U.S. District Court Judge Mary Lou Robinson handed down a sentence of 10 years in prison and 10 years probation, which is the minimum sentence for the crime.

“I apologize to every parent in Texas and Amarillo for the crime I have done,” Ragsdale said in court. “Accept my apology and have mercy on my soul. I am just 19 years old and am not what you think I am.”

Ragsdale was the subject of an investigation by Homeland Security after agents received information that he was recruiting teenage girls on Facebook to become prostitutes.

Homeland Security officers then set up a false Facebook account and corresponded with Ragsdale.

Although Ragsdale did not set up a meeting with the undercover agent, his friend, Deswan Newsome, 19, was told of the undercover agent’s interest and attempted to recruit her.

In July, Newsome pleaded guilty to attempted sex trafficking of a child and received 11 years in prison.

Newsome was arrested after setting up a meeting at a convenience store with an APD officer who pretended to be the girl on the phone.

A 69-year-old Stokes man is facing charges of first-degree sex offense and indecent liberties with a child.

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office charged Donnie Lee Harris Sr., of 3173 N.C. 903 North, in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred during 2003-05.

The alleged incidents occurred at his residence, and the victim was between the ages of five to seven years old, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office received a complaint on Sept. 21. Detective Brian Roberts completed the investigation Thursday and obtained warrants for Harris, who was arrested Thursday at his house.

Harris was booked under a $1 million secured bond at the Pitt County Detention Center.

A man is accused of maintaining a consensual sexual relationship with a minor for two years, according to an arrest affidavit.

Ever Jose Medrano, 24, was 20-years-old when he met the victim, who was 14-years-old, at Outyouth, a safe space for LGBTQIA+ youth in Central Texas. The victim told police that Medrano became his mentor and when he was 15-years-old, the relationship became sexual.

The victim said the first sexual encounter happened in late 2012 and continued through January 2014.

Medrano originally told police he did not have a sexual relationship with the victim. Medrano later admitted to police that he had a single sexual encounter with the victim.

Medrano was already on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s sex offender registry for a previous offense, according to online records. Medrano was given a $50,000 bond a no contact order with the victim.

Two South Texas men arrested in April while reportedly transporting $1.8 million worth of heroin and methamphetamine were indicted Wednesday by a McLennan County grand jury.

The grand jury indicted David Rodriguez, 34, of Houston, and Luis Alexandro Reyna, 36, of San Juan, Texas, on charges of possession of heroin with intent to deliver and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

Department of Public Safety officials arrested the pair April 3 in Waco and reported they discovered 8 pounds of heroin and 9 pounds of methamphetamine in hidden compartments in a 2004 Lincoln Navigator.

According to records filed in the case, the men admitted to the officers that they were bringing the drugs to Waco from the McAllen area.

Records show DPS narcotics officers and Drug Enforcement Administration agents received a tip that a large drug shipment was coming into Waco in a maroon Navigator accompanied by someone in a black 2012 Ford Explorer.

Agents located the vehicles parked at Hooter’s at New Road and Interstate 35.

An undercover DEA agent went inside the restaurant and saw the man later identified as Reyna meeting with a man agents said was driving the Navigator, records show. He later was identified as Rodriguez, according to reports.

The men left the restaurant in the two vehicles and two DPS troopers pulled them over a short time later, records show.

A drug dog was brought in and alerted officers that the vehicle was carrying drugs, according to reports.

If convicted, the men face from 15 to 99 years in prison and up to life and fines up to $250,000.

A Pitt County man is arrested and charged with sex offenses with a child from 10 years ago.

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office says 69-year-old Donnie Lee Harris, Sr. is charged with First Degree Sex Offense and Indecent Liberties with a Child. He was arrested Thursday.

Investigators say the victim came forward in September 2015 stating the offenses happened between 2003 and 2005. At the time, deputies say the victim was between the ages of 5 and 7 years old.

Harris, Sr. is in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1,000,000 bond.
