The former pastor of a Louisville, Kentucky parish was charged by criminal complaint with knowingly accessing with intent to view images of child pornography during 2015, on two computers located in the office and rectory of St. Margaret Mary Parish, located at 7813 Shelbyville, Road in Louisville, announced United States Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr.

Stephen Pohl, age 57, of Louisville, was charged by criminal complaint on August 21, 2015. The complaint, affidavit and warrant were unsealed this morning by United States Magistrate Judge Dave Whalin. Pohl is scheduled for an Initial Appearance on the charge today, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Anthony Porcelli, at 2:00 p.m., in United States District Court located in Tampa, Florida.

Law enforcement executed two federal search warrants on August 12, 2015, in the work and living areas used by Pohl in the parish office and rectory. Subsequently, a warrant for Pohl’s arrest was issued Friday, August 21, 2015. FBI Tampa Division, Pinellas Resident Agency and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Pohl in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, Friday evening, August 21, 2015. Pohl was then held at the Pinellas County Jail until his transfer to the United States Marshal’s custody today.

The specific charge is knowingly accessing with intent to view material that contained an image of child pornography that had been transported using any means or facility of interstate commerce and foreign commerce by any means including by computer.

If convicted, Pohl faces maximum potential penalties of 10 years in prison, a $250,000.00 fine and at least five years of Supervised Release.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jo E. Lawless and is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Child Exploitation Task Force and the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The charging of a person by a Criminal Complaint is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Just over one year ago, a prominent Pulaski County Attorney was murdered. Monday, his admitted killer was sentenced in court.

Before Clinton Inabnit was sentenced for the murder of well known attorney Mark Stanziano, he had to listen to heartwrenching testimony from Stanziano’s loved ones.

Inabnit knew Stanziano. In fact, the attorney would often buy him lunch or drinks because his office was right across the road from Inabnit’s house.  The victim’s daughter says her dad was nice to Inabnitt because he knew he was sick and had mental issues. Stanziano’s family never imagined Inabnittt would gun down his attorney friend, but that’s  exactly what happened as Stanziano walked to his office last summer.

He was shot 6 times on the sidewalk.

Stanziano’s daughter and widow say they agreed to this plea deal because they were afraid a jury might have found Inabnit insane and not sent him to prison.

Inabnit pleaded guilty but mentally ill. He got 20 years in prison.  He could be eligbile for parole in 17 years.

A grand jury has indicted a Laurel County man accused of killing his girlfriend.

According to the Laurel Times Tribune, deputies were called out to Hickory Road on the 4th of July. The paper reports that deputies found Shannon Engle dead from a single gunshot to the head. Investigators say Christopher Byrd shot Engle during an argument. Byrd reportedly admitted to the crime when he was arrested.

A Louisville priest wanted on child pornography charges was arrested in Florida on Friday night.

Father Stephen Pohl was picked up near Tampa on a federal charge of child porn possession.

The arrest happened just hours after the Archdiocese of Louisville announced the FBI found about two hundred illegal images on Pohl’s computer.

Deputies in Florida did not say how they found him or why Pohl was located there.

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing person.

The missing person, Phillip Michael Griffin, 23, was last seen leaving his residence in Canyon Country on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. He recently visited the Buddhist Temple in North Hollywood and is also reported to have been seen near the “river” in Canyon Country. He may have been riding a bicycle or on foot.

A window washer in Madison County is in jail for several theft cases.

Richmond police say David Green stole a ring from a jewelry store, $6,000 worth of jewelry from a home, and $900 worth of pocket knives from a hardware store.

Police say someone caught him taking another knife from the hardware store and called them.

Green tried to run when he saw the officers, but they caught him.

A Shooting at a Lexington gentleman’s club has left one man dead.

Officers tell LEX 18 that the shooting happened at the Camelot West strip club on Alexandria Drive early Saturday morning. Officers believe the victim was sitting in his car when he was shot in the parking lot.

Police say the victim was in a white Chevy Malibu when two shots were fired into the side of the car. The car then left the parking lot and the victim arrived at St. Joseph Hospital. Hospital staff alerted police of the situation around 2:30 a.m.
The Coroner has confirmed to LEX 18 that the victim, Robert Fitzgerald Greer of Lexington, has died from his wounds.

Authorities say they do not have a suspect at this time and that they aren’t sure if the shooting had a motive or was just a random act of violence.
