Private Detective: Woman Robs Jewelry Store with Hammer

Officers in eastern Kentucky want to find a woman who robbed a jewelry store with a hammer.

Police say a woman wearing a motorcycle helmet ran into the Hefner’s Jewelers in Pike County, smashed a display case with a hammer, grabbed jewelry and ran out. She then allegedly jumped on the back of a waiting motorcycle and took off. Witnesses said she was in and out in about 20 seconds.

Wrongful Death Suspects Arrested in Double Homicide Investigation in Cherokee County, SC

Drugs, Guns and a truck on fire. Investigators say a drug deal turned deadly leading to the deaths  of two men from North Carolina.

The two men were shot at home on Jumping Branch Road in Cherokee County around 24 to 36 hours before their bodies were found inside the burning truck in York County, Thursday night.

After 24 long hours of police work, Cherokee County Sheriff, Steve Mueller, says their two  killers are off the streets.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“He’s a bad guy. I’m glad he is off our streets. Unfortunately, two innocent persons had to lose their life as a result of this man,” said Mueller.

That man is Steven Eugene Parker. Investigators say he and Donald Creswell Jr. Were dealing drugs and attempting to make a sale in North Carolina before bringing it to the home.

“We believe it was a drug deal that went bad,” said Mueller.

They say Parker shot the two men inside the home. He’s charged with two counts of murder along with Creswell Jr.

“It was pretty brutal the way these guys were murdered and how their bodies were disposed of,” said Mueller.

Thursday night, a pickup truck was spotted on fire in york county. Two men were inside shot to death.

Cherokee county deputies didn’t know at the time they had one suspect, Donald Creswell, in custody on a separate drug charge. They picked him up during a search warrant based on a tip that a murder had taken place days earlier on Jumping Branch Road. Then all the pieces fell in place.

“Had that tipster not called in, that’s what led us to go that home to make that initial inquiry. Had we not received that tip, we may not had even realized we had a murder occur here,” Mueller explained.

Murder warrants were served Friday morning and they spent the day attempting to locate Parker.

“They made a very diligent effort to locate Mr. Parker due to his violent past,” said Mueller.

Though they wouldn’t reveal the extend of his record because he was a juvenile, they say the citizens of the county can rest better.

“Hopefully he will never see the other side of the bars again,” said Mueller.

There are still many questions left in this case and more arrests are expected. The main question is how were the bodies moved to York County and who helped.

Meanwhile, the York County Coroner’s office has not yet released the names of the victims until all family can be notified.

Fraud Investigation Scams Target Local Businesses

A warning out of Frankfort tonight about a scam involving a fictitious government agency.

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says businesses are receiving a misleading “Notice of Potential Compliance Violation.” The mailing, from a group called “Business Compliance Division,” appears to be an official document. But it’s not.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

Several businesses have reported receiving the postcard, which directs the recipient to call 1-855-530-2615 to avoid potential fees and penalties. The card bears a symbol with a scale and two hands. When the business owner calls the number, he or she is told to pay a one-time fee of $70 to apply for a Certificate of Existence.

“Businesses should exercise caution before providing information or payment to Business Compliance Division,” Grimes says. “or any other entity that makes misleading claims or requests.”

Grimes says she encourages anyone with questions about their corporate records to contact her office directly.

Missing Person Conley Baker Jr of Owsley County

The search for a missing Owsley County man continued on Friday, as rescue crews spent all day looking for 47-year old Conley Baker Jr. Emergency management said Baker walked away from his home on Booneville Lucky Fork Road, near HW 2024 on Thursday, and never returned.

On Friday the calm of the country, sounded more like a city street as dozens of search and rescuers relentlessly worked from dawn to dusk looking for Baker.

Carl Smith lives nearby and did what he could to help, after hearing Baker walked away from his home in the woods at around noon on Thursday.

“It ain’t nothing like he would normally do. He’s a pretty good ole boy,” said Smith.

Owsley County Emergency Management said when Baker didn’t return, family got worried and called rescue crews to the scene.

“Everybody is looking and trying, hoping to find him,” said Smith.

Around 25 rescuers, and even more volunteers, searched until dark on Thursday. On Friday crews started back up at 6 a.m. with canines and backup from the Lee County Search and Rescue Squad. Rescuers scoured around 20 miles of land near Baker’s home.

“There’s a lot of things dangerous about that in this area,” said Smith. “Bad cliffs and mountains, it’s real bad, bad thickets grown up here. You could lay down anywhere and couldn’t find you,” said Smith.

Therefore EMA asked everyone to keep a sharp eye. Baker is described as a white man who is about five feet and nine inches tall, and weighs around 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing green pants, a light green shirt around his neck, and military boots.

Now neighbors hope for the best. “I hope they find him and he’s alright,” said Baker.

If you see Baker or know where he is, you’re asked to call the Owsley County Sheriff’s Department at (606) 593-5161.

Private Detective: Woman Sentenced in Kidnapping Case

On Friday morning, a judge sentenced a woman who pleaded guilty to a terroristic threatening charge in connection with an assault and kidnapping that happened back in 2013.

Jennifer Washington will serve 2 years probation.

Police say Washington helped her husband, Alex Washington, when he had the victim drive them to his home, then tied her up, punched her and hit her with a tire iron. According to court documents, Jennifer Washington told the victim, “You are gonna get what you deserve.”

The judge said imposing a sentence was difficult because Washington was originally charged with kidnapping, but the charge was amended to a misdemeanor. He said the amended charge indicates there must have been some evidence backing up her story, giving it credibility with prosecutors.
