Drug Dog Sweep Teacher and Students Arrested in AR

A history teacher at Melbourne High School and two students were arrested Feb. 12 on drug charges following a week-long investigation by the Izard County Sheriff’s Office.

Terri Hatfield, 52, of Oxford, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver near a certain facility and tampering with evidence.

Hatfield was released from the Izard County jail after posting a $10,000 bond.

A drug dog was brought into Hatfield’s classroom and alerted deputies to a locker, according to Lawrence. Upon searching a purse in the locker, authorities discovered some 27 prepackaged bags of suspected marijuana.

Investigators say they believe Hatfield knew a canine would be used in the school’s parking lot and moved the suspected marijuana from her son’s car to avoid detection during the vehicle sweep by the department’s drug dog.

The juvenile who drove the vehicle also was arrested after additional marijuana and prescription pills were reportedly found inside the car, Lawrence said.

A second student was arrested after authorities allegedly discovered a marijuana cigarette in his pocket.

School administrators reportedly gave their complete cooperation during the investigation, Lawrence noted.

Pedophile Tracking Fresno Man Gets 45 Years

A Fresno man was sentenced to 45 years in prison last week after a jury found him guilty of repeated sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl, according to a statement Monday from the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office.

Anthony Davis, 43, was facing two separate felony child sexual assault charges for the repeated molestation of two young sisters in 2011 and 2012. At trial in the 434th District Court on the first charge, he admitted to the assaults, at least one instance of which was supported by DNA evidence, the statement said. Court records show Davis had pleaded not guilty in the case.

After being convicted in the first case, he agreed to a sentencing deal rather than move forward with jury sentencing given a criminal record that had twice sent him to state prisons, the statement said. The deal included dismissing the second charge he faced in the older sister’s case.

A search of Fort Bend and Harris County court records for Davis’ name and birthdate returned several criminal charges since 1991, including theft, burglary, possession of cocaine, and assault of a family member.

Assistant District Attorneys Jill Stotts and Laurel Ellisor celebrated the conviction and the bravery of the two girls to bring the case forward. In the statement, they noted that the police investigation started when the older girl, who was 14 when she first was molested, wrote a note to her mother and grandmother detailing Davis’ abuse of her, seeking for it to end.

“The courage and resilience shown by these two young ladies is especially commendable,” said Stotts. “It is not always easy for a child to tell someone that they are being sexually abused, but their ability to tell will keep other children safe from the same sexual abuse that they suffered for years.”

Davis’ conviction on the charge of aggravated sexual assault is a first-degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, with parole eligibility after half the sentence has been served. Under the plea deal signed by Davis, he would not be eligible for parole for more than 20 years.

Missing Person Apryl Foster Last Seen in Ybor City, FL

A Brandon woman vanished after a night in Ybor City last week, and now her family is hoping you can help police find her.

According to detectives, there is no evidence of foul play in the disappearance of Apryl Foster. But the 33-year-old is regularly in contact with her family and they say it’s unlike her to miss work, so they are concerned for her safety.

Police say Apryl was last seen around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in Ybor City. According to their timeline, she met friends at the Bad Monkey bar after work Wednesday night. She left at 12:06 a.m. Thursday with a man that she met at the bar.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Apryl and the man went next door to the Double Decker bar to sing karaoke. The two left the bar together for a short time and then returned. When they left the second time, Apryl headed east and the man walked west down 7th Avenue.

Police say they’ve already spoken to that man, along with Apryl’s estranged husband, her boyfriend, and her family and friends, and they say everyone has been “cooperative.” They also conducted a welfare check at her apartment that did not turn up anything unusual.

They are especially concerned because Apryl talks or texts with her mother every day and often more than once a day, but she has not called her mother since Wednesday night and she hasn’t called or texted anyone since she was last seen. Her family also says she also wouldn’t leave her cats this long without care.

According to police, Apryl works as a trainer at Ulele and is known for her work ethic and has never missed work without calling.

Her vehicle is described as a red 2009 Chevy Aveo hatchback, with tag K125YC and a ‘Huskers’ front plate.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS or Tampa police at 813-231-6130.
