Identity Theft Pierre, SD Woman Arrested

Police arrested a man and woman from Pierre yesterday in a case that started with a report of possible identity theft. Police Captain Elton Blemaster says authorities were told around 5:20 p.m. yesterday by a Pierre resident in the 400 block of North Tyler that her credit card company had informed her that someone was trying to use her identity to obtain a credit card.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

The company told the woman to call authorities and Blemaster says it was then that police began an investigation. He says the credit card company’s fraud department provided police with an IP and email address obtained from the person trying to apply for the credit card using another person’s information and identified a suspect. Blemaster says police came in contact late Tuesday with the woman they believed had committed the crime. Arrested in the parking lot of a Pierre business along Sioux Avenue was 26-year-old Katey McGruder. Blemaster says she admitted she obtained the victim’s date-of-birth and social security number and had applied for the credit card. She was arrested for Identity Theft, which is a Class 6 Felony. Also taken into custody was 26-year-old Christopher Quickbear-who was with McGruder at the time. Blemaster says Quickbear was arrested for Ingesting. Both were transported to the Hughes County Jail.

It’s been a difficult Christmas for a mother who is waiting for answers about her missing daughter.

She was last seen with was Kevin Howard, a man accused of killing a Grant County teacher and college professor. Police have not connected him to Brown’s disappearance.

Christmas has arrived. The holiday has been tough for Brown’s family.

“This is the first year that she has not been here with us,” said Sharon King, Brown’s mother.

King thinks Howard knows where her daughter is.

“I believe he already had done something or she would have called home or came home. There’s a reason she can’t,” said King.

She’s asking for help from anyone that knows anything about where Brown could be.

King says crews will search a stretch of the Kentucky River in Jessamine County for clues.

Missing Person Two Year Old North Carolina Boy’s Father Charged with Murder

Investigators have arrested the parents of a missing 2-year-old boy, charging his father with murder and his mother with misdemeanor child abuse, Raleigh police said Thursday morning.

“Investigative developments overnight by Raleigh Police Department detectives have led the Tristan Blue missing-person case in a new direction,” spokesman Jim Sughrue said in a statement.

Steven Daniel Blue, 31, and Briana Loriel Dangerfield, 25, both of 5416 Portree Place, #1, Raleigh, were taken into custody Thursday morning. Blue was being held in the Wake County jail without bond; Dangerfield was jailed under a $100,000 bond.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Tristan’s body, however, has not been found, and police did not provide any other details about the case.

“Officers and detectives will be doing follow-up work concerning all aspects of the case today and in the days ahead,” Sughrue said in an email. “Certainly, work to determine the location of the child’s remains will be part of that effort.”

Officers started looking for Tristan on Wednesday after family members reported that he wandered away from Arbor Creek Apartments off Buck Jones Road in southwest Raleigh as early as 7:45 a.m.

An arrest warrant alleges Dangerfield left the child at home unattended while she went to work.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified told WRAL News that she went to do laundry around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday and saw the door to Dangerfield and Blue’s apartment cracked open and papers scattered on the floor.

A couple hours later, the neighbor said, she noticed that the door was still open. She said she was about to call police when officers knocked on her door.

Darkness forced police to suspend their search Wednesday night, but officers remained at the apartment complex overnight and access to the neighborhood was restricted to residents.

A tow truck carried a silver station wagon, which neighbors said belonged to the family, from the complex around 6 a.m. Thursday, and crime scene tape surrounded dumpsters by the apartment building.
