Missing Person Jennifer Huston of Dundee, OR

Police in Oregon are asking for the public’s help to find a former Gig Harbor woman who vanished while running errands near her family’s home in Dundee.  Jennifer Huston, 38, was last spotted on surveillance video purchasing gasoline at a Circle K convenience store in Newberg Thursday. A short time later her cellphone was turned off and Huston hasn’t been seen since, police said.

“This is totally unlike her,” said Huston’s husband, Kallen, during a Monday news conference as he fought back tears. “She is a devoted mother. She’s a very good person.” The Hustons have two sons, ages 2 and 6.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Dundee police said there was no sign of criminal activity following Huston’s disappearance and her husband is fully cooperating with the investigation. “We are following up leads,” said Dundee police Capt. Jeff Kosmicki. “We are obviously trying to get subpoenas for bank records, cellphone records, any video that could give us direction.” Kosmicki said so far investigators have not found any activity on Huston’s credit cards or bank accounts.

Kallen Huston said his wife had recently suffered headaches, but that they didn’t seem to impact her daily activities. “She complained about headaches for three straight days. Not debilitating and didn’t keep her in bed. But she and I both thought it was a little odd.”

Huston urged the public to be on the lookout for the couple’s dark green 1999 Lexus SUV in case his wife had an accident and was trapped in the vehicle. “Look to the left and off the highways. Her car is very large. It would wipe out any shrubs or potential small trees,” said Huston.

Fraud Investigation Spoofed Caller ID Phone Scam

The Pulaski County sheriff’s office is warning citizens of a recently reported phone scam involving a spoofed caller I.D. in which callers may ask for personal information.

Apparently, the calls are made from an automated call machine, known as a robo call, that spoofs the caller I.D. to show up as a number the victim would recognize and trust, many times their own number. The caller then may request personal information including credit card numbers.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

The sheriff’s office would like the public to know that the technology to alter the caller I.D. information they are seeing on their phones exists, and may be used to trick them into giving out personal information.

If you get a suspicious call where you see your own phone number on the caller I.D., hang up on the caller or just ignore the call.

“Scammers are constantly finding new and sneaky ways to prey on unsuspecting victims” said Lt Brett Whitaker. “Never give out your personal information, bank or credit card information over the phone unless you have initiated that call and have verified who you are speaking with.”

At this point, officials are not clear as to what the caller may say or ask for, because the person who first reported the incident hung up the phone immediately.

Detectives said similar incidents are documented on the Better Business Bureau’s website.
