Homicide detectives were called to the area of NE 65th and Failing in Portland, June 7, 2014 (KOIN 6 News)

Tear gas was used in the area Saturday night, hours after homicide detectives were called in to investigate.

Officials said the location had a number of “security features” that made it tough for the special tactics team to secure it. It took until the early hours of Saturday for the site to be secure.

Around 11 a.m., police were sent to the house to check on the welfare of a person living there. But they soon called for homicide detectives to join them.

Around 9:30 p.m., a SERT team deployed the tear gas and some area residents were evacuated. Portland police asked other residents to stay inside their homes.

What sounded like shots being fired turned out to be the flash bangs and tear gas being used.

Officials said detectives are trying to locate a missing person connected to the home, and that this case continues to be investigated as a missing person case.

Identity Theft Two Women Arrested at a Flowood, MS Radio Shack

Flowood Police say two women were part of an elaborate iPhone scam that involved phony IDs, WJTV reported.

Flowood Police Lt. Ricky McMillian said Brena’e Weaver and Keayra Wells, both of Michigan, met a man in Atlanta who gave them money and phony drivers’ licenses.

The unidentified man set up phony accounts at Verizon and instructed the women to go to different stores, upgrade phone services, buy a new iPhone then add an additional phone line to get a second iPhone.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Police said they would ship the iPhones to the man who would sell them online for around $500 per phone. McMillian said they went to the Verizon store in Pearl, but employees became suspicious and alerted other stores in the metro area.

When the women entered the Radio Shack in Flowood, workers called police.

One of the suspects had 13 IDs, and the other had 11. Police also confiscated around $5,400.

The women are charged with one count each of identity theft because they only used one of the phony IDs at the Radio Shack.

McMillan said the women could possibly face one count of conspiracy to commit a felony. Weaver will also be charged with accessory after the fact.

A Kansas man has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for a $1.3 million fraud involving a Missouri fund for cleaning up leaking petroleum tanks.

Missing Person 16 Year Old Girl Last Seen in Placerville, CA

A 16-year-old girl being treated for anorexia and other psychological disorders is missing.

Amy Richards ran away from the treatment facility on Shadow Run Road early Tuesday morning. The home is operated by Summitview Child & Family Services.

Sheriff’s investigators learned the teen had stuffed her bed to make it look like she was asleep in it and the screen was removed from her bedroom window.

The 16-year-old left a note saying she would be OK but it was believed she had neither money nor a cellphone with her.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Amy’s family has not heard from her. They live in San Francisco and there is the possibility she may be trying to get there.

Search crews are plastering fliers with Amy’s picture on it all over Placerville. They are hoping someone will recognize her.

Her father drove up from San Francisco to help find her.

“I’m just terrified for Amy’s safety in general,” Don Richards said.

The missing girl is described as white, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 100 pounds. She has blue eyes and waist-length blond hair. There are more than 30 scars on her inner forearm from cutting.

There is concern for the teen’s welfare because she had been refusing her medication and had lost more weight, the sheriff’s report said.

“She’s severely anorexic and has a very low heart rate,” Executive Director Anna Gleason said.

The longer she’s missing, the more worried her father becomes.

“Hours or days are literally all she can survive without medical care,” Richards said.

It wasn’t known what Amy was wearing when she left but when last seen, she had on a t-shirt and jeans. She may have a light-blue satchel-style purse.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office used search dogs to look for Amy Thursday morning. Officials didn’t know if she went in the woods or stayed on Mosquito Road. They say the dogs indicated she likely stayed on the road and kept walking.

“It’s hard to know whether she walked away or was picked up by an accomplice trying to help her,” Gleason added.

Her father has started a Facebook page to help spread the word about her disappearance.

He had a message for her Thursday night.

“Amy, be safe. Make yourself safe,” Richards implored. “Contact someone you trust and know that you will be listened to.”

Any sightings or information on Richards’ whereabouts can be reported to El Dorado County sheriff’s dispatchers at (530) 621-6600 or Det. Rich Horn at (530) 642-4715.
