Private Detective, Former Superintendent Indicted in Abuse of Public Trust Charges

A former Mason County School District superintendent accused of using public money and property for personal matters has been indicted.

Timothy G. Moore, 58, has been charged by a Mason County grand jury with one count of abuse of public trust over $10,000, a class C felony, Attorney General Jack Conway announced Tuesday.

Officials say Moore obtained and/or dealt with public monies and/or property, intentionally failed to make required payments or dispositions, and used them as his own in an amount greater than $10,000 but less than $100,000. Officials say Moore misused the resources from 2007 through 2012.

The investigation began in February of 2013, after a letter of referral from Kentucky Commissioner of Education Terry Holliday was sent to Conway’s office.

Moore is scheduled to be arraigned in the Mason Circuit Court on June 13.

Private Investigator, Officials Warn of Late Night Door Knocks in Cynthiana

Officials in Cynthiana say they are getting reports of people knocking on doors late at night and are warning citizens to keep their doors locked and asking them to call 911 first.

Earlier this month, a man tricked an elderly woman into opening her door in the middle night, pretending he needed help. When Sara Hudgins opened her door, he attacked and choked her. Her husband scared him off with a gun.

A week later, in the Grandview neighborhood where lots of seniors live, two more suspicious occurrences of someone knocking on doors late at night.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“We had a couple of other calls similar to that incident with in a 7-day period,” said Chief Ray Johnson. “We don’t know if it was the same person or related.”

Neither person opened the door. The fact it was late at night and at the home of two elderly people raises a red flag for police. They want people to call 911 first.

“This is mostly an elderly community; people do tend to prey on the elderly,” Chief Johnson said. “I’d rather people be safe than sorry. The last thing I want to see is an elderly person come out with a handgun shooting someone.”

Meanwhile, neighbors look out for each other.

“Late at night like that, they’re obviously up to no good. It’s pretty bad when it comes down to targeting senior citizens,” said neighbor Dexter Price.

“If you’re not sure, be safe an don’t answer the door,” Chief Johnson says.

If you have any information that could help police get to the bottom of any of the incidents, you’re asked to give Cynthiana police a call.

Accident Reconstruction Elderly Woman Flipped Her Car in Woodford County

An elderly woman flipped her car on Memorial Day and was stuck upside down for nearly 30 minutes, before anyone knew she needed help. It happened on Buck Run Road in Woodford County.

“Bless her heart and I am glad she’s okay,” said Krissy Fraser. She lives on the road where Versailles police said the elderly woman was driving around a curve when she hit a tree, flipped, then was stuck upside down in her seat belt for around a half hour.

“My gosh. I wouldn’t want to be upside down for 30 minutes in a seat belt. That’s awful,” said Tom Brown. People who live in the area, like him, said the road isn’t busy. Therefore, it was a while before someone drove by and noticed the car.

A neighbor finally went by and called 911 for help. “Yay neighbors! We are good people down here,” said Fraser,

Police said there was concern that the car was close to the creek, so emergency crews rushed in, ready to rescue.

“All of the sudden there were ambulances, police officers, wreckers. Even a police officer with ATV’s,” said Fraser.

“I heard emergency vehicles and then a number of cars going by at high speed,” added Brown.

Police said they had to cut the woman’s seat belt and take her to UK Hospital as a precaution. Despite dementia, officers said the woman was perfectly fine. Neighbors said that’s a miracle considering the wreck, and the road.

“It’s really windy and curvy and narrow and if you don’t know it, it could be a little problematic,” said Fraser.

“It’s a rural road. It is twisty, it is a little narrow,” added Brown. Despite the obstacles of the road, people in the area said crashes are few and far between.

Now their thoughts are with this victim. “I hope she gets well and has safe travels from here on out,” said Fraser.

Wrongful Death More Info on Murder Suicide in Kenton County

More information has released regarding a murder-suicide in Kenton County in which one man shot another man in front of four girls before taking his own life.

Police said the gunman, Zuriel Tirk, asked his ex wife’s husband, Mark Kroening, to meet him at the Dairy Queen parking lot to discuss child custody issues.

When Kroening arrived, police said Turk walked up to the car shot the man inside before turning the gun on himself.

The four young girls in the car ran to the business across the street screaming for help.

“They came running into the store hysterical and said their real dad shot their stepdad and one of the customers called 911,” Security Clerk Ron Cain said.

Turk was taken to UC Medical Center where he was pronounced dead while Kroening died at the scene.

Police said they were also investigating a blog that Turk kept.

In his last posting on May 18, he calls his ex-wife and Kroening kidnappers and said he loves and misses his children.

Pedophile Tracking Suspect Arrested in Olympia, WA

Police have identified and arrested a man suspected of making sexual advances toward young boys at the Briggs YMCA in Olympia.

David L. Cawthorne, 21, of Thurston County was arrested Sunday at about 7 p.m. at his home in the 6200 block of Fair Oaks Road SE and booked into jail for investigation of first-degree child molestation.

A surveillance camera captured video of the suspect, and he later was identified with the cooperation of YMCA staff and the two young victims, said Laura Wohl of the Olympia police.

Police say the incidents happened Saturday afternoon in the men’s locker room at the facility located on 1530 Yelm Highway Southeast.

A 10-year-old boy reported the troubling situation to the front desk at the YMCA around 4 p.m., and employees called police. After investigators arrived, a mother came forward and said the same thing had just happened to her 9-year-old son inside the locker room.

“It’s very frustrating,” said Mark West, President and CEO of South Sound YMCA. “The safety and well-being of kids are of utmost importance to us.”

YMCA members say this is a good reminder for everyone to keep their eyes out for suspicious behavior that could harm an innocent child.

“The little boy did the right thing, and came out, and reported the situation,” said West.

Private Investigator, Three Shootings Reported in Lexington Within 24 Hours

Three people were sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound in Lexington in just 24 hours.

The shootings all happened on Sunday and police are still looking for each of the gunmen. However, investigators say there is no evidence to suggest any of the shootings are connected.

The latest incident was Sunday night on North Martin Luther King Boulevard, where neighbors say, around 11:30 p.m., they heard about 10 gun shots.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Bullet holes are still visible in the front door of one apartment, where police say a bullet hit a woman in her hand. Police say it’s unclear if the bullet was intended for her.

“Bullets don’t have no names and they can hit anyone,” said a neighbor who didn’t want to be identified.

Neighbors say they don’t want to be the next targets. Especially because over the last few months, the term “shots fired” has become a little too common.

“It’s sad because a lot of kids out here playing and you don’t want nobody’s children to get hurt or end up getting killed because of somebody’s foolishness,” a neighbor said.

The woman shot in her apartment was just one of three gunshot victims in Lexington on Sunday.

Around one o’clock Sunday morning, on Alexandria Drive, police say a man tried to break up a fight and was shot in the shoulder or the chest.

12 hours later, a man was hit on Danielle, in the area of New Circle and Liberty Road. Witnesses told police two vehicles pulled up to one another, and when one pulled away, someone in the other vehicle started shooting.

All three victims are expected to survive.

“When you know what’s going on, speak up and say something because if it was your family member that got hurt or got killed, you would want somebody to say something,” a neighbor said.

If you have any information about these investigations, give Lexington Police a call.
