Arson Investigation Tire Fire in Laurel County

Firefighters spent Wednesday afternoon battling a large tire fire that they believe might have been intentionally set.

It happened at a tire recycling business on Highway 472 in Laurel County and took about two hours to get the fire under control.

The emergency management director said the business was closed Wednesday so they are calling it a suspicious fire.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

“We don’t know how it started at this point but there is no wildfires around that would have caused it, there aren’t any storms so lightning can’t do it. So at this time it is a suspicious fire,” Albert Hale of Laurel County Emergency Management said.

The fire was so massive at one point the smoke could be seen from neighboring counties.

Private Detective, Clark County Woman in Jail After Allegedly Trying to Stab Daughter

A Clark County woman is in jail accused of trying to stab her daughter and shaking her grandbaby.

Melissa Hampton, 50, is charged with wanton endangerment second and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Police say she tried to stab her daughter, Naisha Hampton, with two knives several times at her home on Lincoln Street Tuesday. Naisha says her mother was so drunk she called 911 on herself.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Hampton showed LEX 18 one of the knives she says her mother tried to stab her with. She says it all started Tuesday evening when Melissa was watching her grandchild and asked her daughter to take the kid back. When she told her mom to hold on while she put a bow on her other child, she says that’s when her mom snapped and became irate.

“She was slinging him by his arm trying to throw him at me, literally. I told her if she cut me she better kill me. I don’t know why she was trying to stab me,” Naisha said.

Melissa Hampton declined an interview from jail.

Wrongful Death Man Indicted in Diva’s Shooting Death

A man charged with shooting another man to death outside a Lexington strip club last year has been indicted for murder.

Tevin Wright was also indicted for tampering with physical evidence in the shooting death of Curtis Simmons in November 2013 outside Diva’s Gentlemen’s Club on Russell Cave Road.

Wright was charged in the case on Dec. 2, while he was at a jail in Muncie, Ind., where he had been arrested on unrelated charges.

Police say an argument started inside the club on Nov. 13 and spilled to the parking lot of the business, where the victim was shot. Curtis was found outside around 2:49 a.m. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to UK Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Wright and four other men were involved in the argument. They say they ran off in a vehicle, that was later found just blocks away from the crime scene.
