Insurance Fraud Eastern Idaho Woman Sentenced

A State of Idaho employee Maria Pilar Ramirez pleaded guilty and was sentenced on March 5, 2014, for insurance fraud, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said.  Fourth District Judge Timothy Hansen sentenced Ramirez to 30 days in the county and jail and placed her on probation for five years.

 http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

By pleading guilty, Ramirez, 42, of Blackfoot, admitted that she provided her Blue Cross of Idaho insurance information to Juan David Rojas-Torres, a man she had a personal relationship with.  Between November 1, 2009, and February 3, 2010, Rojas-Torres represented himself as Ramirez’s husband and had eight teeth removed.  The bills for those teeth extractions were billed to Blue Cross of Idaho.

The fraud was discovered after Ramirez’s husband had one of the exact same teeth extracted as Rojas-Torres on April 6, 2012.

Insurance fraud is a felony that impacts all Idahoans.  Anyone who witnesses or suspects insurance fraud is encouraged to contact the Idaho Department of Insurance at www.doi.idaho.gov

The case was investigated by the Idaho Department of Insurance and prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Lisa Donnell of the Attorney General’s Insurance Crimes Unit.

Hiring a Private Detective in just 10 steps

1-Always check whether the person has a license. While this is a necessity for many states, you should do your own research and ask to see a copy of his or her license.

2-Carefully consider the contract. It should state in writing exactly what services you expect them to undertake and what their fees are for such services. You do not want any surprises.

3-If you are looking at private investigators that charge hourly rates (as many of them do), ask for an estimate on how many hours they will devote to your case.

4- Many private detectives will be referred to you from past clients. After all, an investigator with little real-life experience might not be the best for your case. There are some instances where confidentiality may preclude them from sharing this, but still ask for past experience in your sort of case. Ask them for examples of outcomes and ask them to be as specific as they possibly can.

5-Ask to see their liability insurance and proof of bonding. If the detective happens to damage anyone’s property while on your case, you do not want to be liable. If they have insurance, look over their coverage , a million dollar policy coverage is beneficial to both you and the Agency he or she represents.

6- Search the Internet for reviews of the detective and or Agency

7- Check with the Better Business Bureau to see past history and if anyone has ever filed a complaint.

8- Do they have an office, or do they work out of their home? Many Private investigation firms that are run out of a home, can be an indication that they may not be 100% committed to this line of work.

9- Ask about equipment. Do they have large telephoto equipment ( 1300 zoom lenses ) ? Do they have 60x zoom video equipment? Do they have parabolic listening devices? Do they have cameras and video equipment that work inside low light areas? Do they have night vision video and photography equipment. All of these are important in getting quality admissible evidence for your case.

10- Have any grievances been filed with your state licensing division with regard to the agency or the operative themselves?

Missing Person Girl in Amber Alert Found in South Carolina

Officials say that a girl who disappeared Thursday was found Friday night with her abductor in the Pee Dee.

North Carolina issued an Amber Alert Thursday for Caitlyn Marie Virts, who was believed to be with a man in a black truck.

The pair disappeared Thursday, the same day Caitlyn’s mother was found dead, officials say.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html
Officials reported there was one alleged abductor, Timothy Howard Virts, and he is in custody.

“Caitlyn appears to be unharmed,” Baltimore Police said around 10:30 pm Friday. “Investigators believe that the two being located is a direct result of the expanded Amber Alert.”

The return of Timothy Howard Virts is pending an extradition process.

Caitlyn Virts will be returned home as soon as possible, police said. Baltimore County DSS has already been put in contact with Social Services officials in South Carolina.

Detectives will be traveling to South Carolina as soon as possible to continue the investigation.
Caitlyn was taken from Dundalk, MD and they were believed to be in Garysburg NC Thursday.

Authorities responded to a home in Dundalk around 9 a.m. Thursday on reports of a person in cardiac arrest and found Caitlyn’s mother, 36-year-old Bobbie Cortez, dead. Police have not confirmed how she died.
