Missing Person Weather Photo Helps Family Find Missing Man

Nicholas Simmons disappeared from his parents’ house in a small upstate New York town on New Year’s Day, leaving behind his wallet, cellphone and everything else.

Four days later, an Associated Press photographer, looking for a way to illustrate unusually cold weather, snapped his picture as he warmed himself on a steam grate a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

Paul and Michelle Simmons saw the AP photograph in USA Today Sunday morning after it was brought to their attention through a Facebook page set up to help find their son, according to police and family friends.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The photo, taken Saturday by AP photographer Jacquelyn Martin, showed Simmons with his unshaven face pressed against a grate outside the Federal Trade Commission. He wore a ski jacket and a hood over his head. A thick gray blanket covered his lower body.

Martin was assigned to the White House that weekend, but with President Barack Obama still on vacation in Hawaii, she spent the day looking for shots that would illustrate the cold weather. That is how she found Nick Simmons, in an area where homeless people often gather when it is frigid outside. She found a cluster of men huddled around the grate, introduced herself and started taking pictures.

Then she noticed one person in particular, huddled under a blanket.

“It struck me how young he was,” Martin said. “I again introduced myself and shook his hand. He said his name was Nick.”

Martin finished shooting, sent the pictures to the wire and then called it a day. The next day, she received a message via Twitter from USA Today.

The newspaper had run the photo of Nick and was contacting Martin to tell her that Nick’s family had recognized him and was trying to locate him. Michelle Simmons was certain that the young man in the photograph was her son, missing for four days.

Police picked Simmons up Sunday afternoon and took him to a hospital, said Capt. Patrick Phelan of the Greece, N.Y., police department. Simmons’ father, Paul, and older brother Paul Jr. arrived in Washington Sunday night and were reunited with Simmons at the hospital, said longtime family friends Peter and Cindy Gugino of Fairfax Station, Va.

Martin, the AP photographer, said the episode serves as a reminder to journalists that every person they encounter has a story to tell.

“It’s really gratifying to see that a photograph can make a tangible difference in someone’s life. That’s a really amazing thing to have happened,” she said. “I’m happy and touched that the photograph could help reunite this family.”

Police said authorities notified local media and tried to investigate the case, but there were no leads until the publication of the photo.

“It was pure dumb luck how all this happened,” said Sgt. David Mancuso, the lead investigator. “It’s truly a miracle.”

Missing Person Raleigh Teen Returned Home

A Raleigh teen who had not been seen by family members since Dec. 26 has been found safe and returned home, Raleigh Police said Friday night.

Kenyetta Clark, 15, had been missing since Dec. 26. She was recovered Friday night in Fuquay-Varina, and police said she was not with family members.

Clark’s mother, Valerie Tate, told WNCN that her daughter was found “in good condition,” but she will be attending couseling.

Tate also said police arrested two men after Clark’s recovery, and that her daughter did not personally know the men, but she “know of one of them.” However Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said no arrests have been made.

Tate had pleaded for help earlier in the week, saying the teen’s cellphone has been turned off and her Facebook account was deleted.

After Clark was returned home, Tate told WNCN that her daughter deleted the Facebook account because “someone was harassing her.”

Pedophile Tracking Ohio Man Pleads Guilty to 60 Charges

A former North Pohlman Road man might remain in prison for life after pleading guilty Friday to 60 sex-related charges.

William B. Noble, 49, pleaded guilty to the counts as part of a plea agreement in which Prosecutor Matt Schmidt recommended a sentence of 35 years to life, to be served consecutive to Noble’s current eight-year sentence on eight other sex-related charges. Noble’s attorney, James Szorady, is expected to argue for 25 years to life, the minimum mandatory sentence because the rape victim was younger than 10 years old.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Even if Judge Mike Ater decides to go for the minimum sentence, Noble would be about 82 years old before having a chance of release. If he ever would be released, there is a mandatory five years of post-release control.

The charges stem from an investigation that began in February after the Ohio Attorney General’s Crimes Against Children Unit alerted Chillicothe police after finding information on a child pornography-sharing website that led to Noble. Police searched his home and prosecutors immediately pursued five counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor and three counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

Schmidt previously said the goal was to get Noble in prison while investigators took a deeper look into Noble’s computer and other media devices, as well as seek out possible victims.

Noble went to prison in August and, in November, was indicted on one count of rape, two counts of gross sexual imposition, six counts of voyeurism, nine counts of illegal use of a minor in sexually-oriented material, 19 counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor and 23 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

Investigators reportedly found hundreds of child pornography photos and videos, including some Noble allegedly made during the past four to five years in his home, where he lived with his mother. The rape and gross sexual imposition charges relate to incidents with the same girl, and seven child pornography charges are related to two videos and five images he allegedly took of the incidents.

The voyeurism charges relate to video captured of two girls — ages 10 to 16 at the times — from inside Noble’s bathroom. Four of the illegal use charges relate to photographs Noble allegedly took of a neighborhood girl whose swimsuit was sagging from playing in a pool.

Seventeen counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor relate to videos downloaded from the Internet, many of them of juveniles being raped by adults. The remaining 23 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor relate to downloaded photos of juveniles involved in sex acts with adults.

Ater ordered victim impact statements to consider before sentencing Noble at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 13.

Missing Person Dylan Turner of Michigan

The parents of a teen missing since New Year’s Eve are asking for help locating their son.

Seventeen-year-old Dylan Turner went missing from the Children’s Village in Pontiac along with another resident on Tuesday evening about 7 p.m.

Tracey Turner said her son, “has come too far to throw it all away and everyone wants to help him finish (his recovery).”

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Tracey said her son only had about a month left at the center and was in the process of finishing court-ordered treatment before leaving with a resident she believes is named ‘Austin.’

She doesn’t know why he would leave the center with such a short time left but wants her son to know that there are hundreds of people trying to help him out and “we’re at home falling apart.”

While a police report has been filed, Tracey tells WWJ that this is not treated as a run-away case due to his court-ordered treatment status at Children’s Village.

Dylan is 5 feet 7 inches, 150 pounds with short brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Waterford police at (248) 674-0351.

Night Vision … Is it needed?

Clients often ask… ” Do you really need night vision?” Liar catchers uses night vision to capture detail in low light. Here is an example of night vision versus regular camera shot on a street surveillance Job this evening. You be the Judge. Liar Catchers surveillance operatives use Night Vision because ” The devil is in the detail” and we don’t want to miss a thing. When they come out, we will see it all.
