Insurance Fraud Sacramento County Woman Sentenced

A 21-year-old woman has been sentenced to 300 days in jail for her role in an insurance fraud case.

Angelique Jones was also placed on five years formal probation after pleading no contest to the felony violation of insurance fraud. She was sentenced today in Sacramento Superior Court.

Jones and co-defendants Susan Lee, Kristel Marquez and Angela Medeiros staged an accident using a rented U-Haul truck to fraudulently collect insurance monies from U-Haul’s vehicle insurance carrier, according to a Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office news release.

http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

On Dec. 12, 2011, Medeiros rented a U-Haul truck and purposely collided with Lee’s car, in which Jones and Marquez were passengers, authorities said. Shortly afterward, the women filed bodily injury claims with U-Haul’s insurance company. When questioned by the insurance company, Medeiros denied knowing any of the occupants in the car and the occupants denied knowing her.

The California Department of Insurance investigated the matter and discovered through the defendants’ Facebook listings that Medeiros was Jones’ mother, and Lee’s and Marquez’s mother-in-law.

Jones’ co-defendants previously pleaded no contest to a felony violation of insurance fraud. Each was sentenced to 180 days in county jail and placed on five years felony probation.

Wrongful Death Triple Murder Suspect Back in Pueblo

Triple murder suspect, Harry Mapps, is back in Pueblo after being arrested in Oklahoma.

Mapps is being held in the Pueblo County Detention Center with no bond.

Harry Mapps was arrested Saturday evening at a motel along I-40 in Roland, Oklahoma after authorities there received a tip about Mapps’ minivan.

Authorities told 11 News Mapps does not have any known ties to Oklahoma, but was a truck driver and is familiar with I-40.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Mapps faces charges of first degree murder, arson, theft, identity theft and forgery in connection to the deaths of Reginald and Kim Tuttle, and their daughter Dawn Roderick.

Mapps was an employee at Reginald Tuttle’s trucking company, and had been renting a room from him.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday authorities still do not know what motivated the murders, but they are breathing a sign of relief now that Mapps is behind bars.

Authorities said they are investigating to find out if Mapps may have committed other alleged crimes while he was on the run.

______________________________________________________

Sunday night Dawn, Reggie and Kim’s surviving family talked to us about the heartbreak of losing them and their reaction to Harry Mapp’s arrest.

Toby Barnes, Dawn’s brother, says his arrest is a relief but it doesn’t change the fact that he will never see his mom, dad or sister again.
He tells us Mapps wasn’t just an employee or renting a room from the Tuttle’s, he was a longtime family friend.

Barnes says he is still shocked, but wants Mapps to get the maximum punishment for the crime.

” I’d like to see him get the death penalty or life without parole,” Barnes says.

Mark Roderick, Dawn’s husband is also speaking out about Mapps capture, telling 11 news he’s glad he has been caught but it doesn’t change the extreme grief they are dealing with.

Roderick has questions for the suspect.

” I want to know why he did this to my kids. I want to know why he destroyed their lives.”

Roderick says he is relieved to know Mapps will never show up at his door and he too wants justice for the lives taken.

” The way I feel, is an eye for an eye. If the District Attorney goes after the death penalty, I will back him up. If he goes after life in prison, I will back him up. The only think I don’t want to see him do is skate.”

Missing Person Body Found of Missing Lawrence, KS Man

A body found at Clinton State Park Friday morning has been identified as 26-year-old Lawrence resident Michael Packard, according to Clinton State Park Manager, Dale Schwiger.

Packard’s body was discovered at East 700 and North 1400 roads on the Clinton State Park grounds at around 9 a.m, said Kim Murphree, a spokeswoman for the Lawrence Police Department. Foul play is not suspected, she said.

Private Detective Body Found in Mercer County Home

A person was found dead in a makeshift living space in the basement of a Mercer County home Monday.

According to Harrodsburg Police, the body could have been in the house on Hillcrest Street for two years before it was discovered.

The body was discovered around 4 p.m. Monday and is believed to be that of a man. Police say there were no missing person’s case that would match this death investigation.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Police say the home was rented by someone who moved out about two years ago and was apparently unaware this person was living there. They believe the person found dead is possibly a squatter. Newspapers and other materials found in the home lead police to believe the person had been living there since sometime in 2011.

The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office and has not yet been identified. A medical examiner could most likely narrow down the time of death.

Foul play is not suspected. An autopsy is expected next week.

Missing Person Kentucky Woman Spotted in Las Vegas

Metro Police found the car of Jena Chisholm in Las Vegas Thursday evening and said she was spotted in town, but police and her family are still trying to find the missing woman from Kentucky.

Metro Police are assisting in the search for Chisholm, 20, who left her northern Kentucky home on Dec. 19. Chisholm’s family reported her missing after she failed to show up for doctor’s appointment Dec. 26.

Chisholm’s car, a powder blue 2006 Volkswagen Beetle, was found around 7 p.m. Thursday near Sierra Vista Drive and Cambridge Street.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Officer Laura Meltzer said someone made contact with her last night without realizing that she was reported missing. Officers are trying to contact her, but police have not issued a critical missing person report.

Police officers want to contact Chisholm, but there are no signs yet that Chisholm is in danger and Metro Police have not issued a critical missing person report, Meltzer said.

“The flier goes out when the situation meets the criteria for doing so,” Meltzer said. “If you put out a flier for every person who goes missing, you’d stop getting people to pay attention. There are runaways, people who voluntarily leave home. We put out the critical search flier when it warrants it, when the person is suspected to be in danger or when there are other suspicious circumstances.”

Chisholm had told some of her family of plans to go to Las Vegas. Her dog, Chamber, was then found tied to a fence at the Diamond Inn Motel, across from Mandalay Bay on the Strip.

Chisholm’s family has set up a Facebook page to help locate her.

According to her family, they used a phone tracking application that indicated Chisholm went to Las Vegas, then to Los Angeles and back to Las Vegas. Her phone is no longer on, and cannot be tracked, according to the family’s messages on Facebook.

Chisholm’s family has said on Facebook that she loved her dog, and they believe it is suspicious that the dog was found unattended.

Chisholm is 5 feet 1 inch tall and 110 pounds. She has two tattoos, one of a rag doll on her left clavicle, and a large red and black tattoo over her right ribs.

Any one with information is asked to call Metro Police at (702) 828-3111.
