Missing Person Body Found in Bayou Believed to Be Houston Teen

Police believe a male’s body found in northwest Houston this morning is a teen missing since Friday, when powerful storms swept a truck into White Oak Bayou.

Initial reports indicated two teens had been swept away, but the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said a witness to the accident now doubts seeing a female at the scene.

The search has been suspended, the HCSO said in a press release.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

A person riding a bicycle called 911 at 10:23 a.m. today and reported seeing a body in the 4600 block of West Tidwell, officials said.

“We believe this may be Eric Cabrera,” said HPD Sgt. Brian Harris. “The distinctive tattoos certainly tell a tale.”

Harris said he cannot yet be certain of the identity of the body, but based on the tattoos and the spot along the bayou where the body was found, about 2.5 miles from the crash site, he asked the family of the missing 18-year-old to come to the scene.

When asked to identify the body, family member Hugo Salas said he can’t be sure.

“I hope it’s not,” Salas said.

Police estimate that at the peak of the storm, the bayou’s current was moving at about 35 mph, but the body was found caught on a drainage pipe so it may not have moved far. Only as the water dropped did it become visible, officials said.

The witness who reported the body, 43-year-old James McClain, said he had just gotten off of work from a nearby Jack in the Box and was riding his bike over a bridge on his way home.

He said he looked down and spotted what appeared to be the body of a man, but he couldn’t identify any other characteristics. He said it was disturbing to see the body.

“It messed my stomach up,” McClain said.

He said he called 911 and then called his mother, who came out to the scene to be with him.

The original witness at the scene of Friday’s wreck said he saw a male and a female hanging on to the edge of a truck in the bayou. He said he ran to get a chain to pull them out and when he got back, they were gone.

No family ever came forward to report the female missing.

Wrongful Death $10k Reward for Arrest in Danville Couple’s Murder

On Tuesday friends, family and many others gathered to say goodbye to the husband and wife who were shot to death at their Boyle County store on Friday.

Michael and Angela Hockensmith were gunned down at ABC Gold, Games and More in Danville. A business client of theirs, Daniel Smith, was also killed.

The couple’s viewing was held on Tuesday in Pulaski County at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Family is doing their best to pull through this troubling time.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“I love you all, I miss you, but I know you are in heaven,” said Tony Hockensmith, Michael’s brother. It is an unshakable faith that Tony said is keeping him and his family strong. They now face a battle most people can’t comprehend.

“It was painful, it was probably one of the most painful things I have ever experienced,” said Tony.

It’s the pain of losing such wonderful people. Along with business client Daniel Smith, Michael and Angela were shot to death in their Danville store Friday morning. The couple’s nine year old hid with his one year old sister and called for help.

“They lost their parents it’s going to be hard, but they have so much love and support,” said Tony.

It’s the same love Michaels brother said the couple shared with everyone they met. It was obvious on Tuesday from the sea of mourners at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

“They would reach into your life and change it, all you had to do was be around and they would change you,” said Tony.

The duo’s contagious smiles, happy hearts, and endless love for God and family is how they will be remembered. Two lives loved ones credit for bringing a community together.

“This is maybe God’s plan and he has a purpose and he has a reason for it… And it is going to work its way out,” said Tony.

With tragedy comes triumph. The couple’s family said they know justice will be served and the good in this world will prevail.

“It’s just made us stronger, this killer didn’t weaken us, he made the community stronger and he will be caught,” said Tony.

The couple’s funeral will also be at Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m..

As for the gunman, he’s described as a white, heavy-set man who is 40 to 50 years old. Investigators believe he could have been wearing a disguise at the time of the shootings.

ATF is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

If you have any information, contact the Danville Police Department.

Pedophile Tracking Sting Operation Leads to 16 Arrests in WI

A sting operation that targeted Internet child sex predators has led to the arrests of 16 men in six Wisconsin counties, authorities said.

Eight were arrested in Brown County, four in Marathon County, and the others in Winnebago, Shawano, Outagamie and Door counties, according to Press-Gazette Media (http://gbpg.net/16o6ZJR).

Police had between 1,200 and 1,500 chats with possible suspects during the investigation that ran from Wednesday to Saturday, said Door County Sheriff’s investigator Jim Valley. Officials targeted online ad services as well as social media and other Internet outlets.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

By Monday evening, eight men had been charged. Charges — and those being recommended — include use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime to child enticement, prostitution and possession of a controlled substance.

Two of those arrested have connections to the Green Bay School District, including a bus driver and a library media specialist at two elementary schools.

The staff member, identified as Jason Gehrke, 38, was charged with use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, according to online court records. According to officials, he had been with the district for a year.

The bus driver, identified by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department as 34-year-old Victor Iakimenko, works for contracted bus service. He has been removed from the route transporting children from two schools. Iakimenko, of Green Bay, has been charged with child enticement and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

Green Bay schools Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld said the district is conducting its own investigation and student safety is a top priority for the district.

“This is very unsettling and troubling,” the superintendent said.

District officials said they will conduct an internal investigation of the employee. Langenfeld said administrators were not aware of any allegations of additional misconduct.

A Lamers Bus Line Inc. spokeswoman would not confirm the driver’s name but said someone was arrested and has been placed on suspension.

“Our background check policy already exceeds what is required,” school bus operations manager Cindy Lawler said. “We do re-check them. The driver had no previous criminal record.”

Law enforcement officials say the investigation continues.

Missing Person Brian Helgeson of Jackson County, WI

On Monday, September 23, 2013 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted shortly after 6 p.m., regarding a welfare check on a 57-year-old resident of Hixton who has not been heard from for some time.

Initial information gathered by authorities, revealed that BRIAN HELGESON had not been heard from for over a week and family was becoming concerned. BRIAN HELGESON also shared his residence with his 20-year-old son, LARS HELGESON. The caller, a family member, stated that she had drove out to the residence to check on BRIAN and received no answer at the door.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The complainant told authorities that when she looked into a window of the home she saw a person crouching down and attempting to avoid detection. The complainant immediately left the residence and notified authorities.

Jackson County deputies immediately responded to the residence and also received no answer. The Sheriff’s Office activated that department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and subsequently found no one inside the residence or initial evidence of foul play.

Concerns were also evident to the welfare of LARS HELGESON as this party was not on the property as well. Investigating deputies were however able to establish through a series of interviews that LARS HELGESON is safe based upon recent contact(s) with friends.

Authorities at this time have been unable to find LARS HELGESON. He has made no effort to contact law enforcement and reports indicate that LARS may be mentally unstable. Reports also indicate that LARS HELGESON is armed with two firearms.

LARS HELGESON is being considered a person of interest in this investigation. Authorities based on the information they have collected believe LARS HELGESON is armed and should not be approached by anyone other than law enforcement officials.

Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera did state that this is an active missing person’s investigation and that foul play has not been ruled out at this time.

LARS HELGESON may be operating a reported stolen vehicle, a 1980 Chevy Suburban with plate 589DEW. That vehicle is brown in color.

Sheriff Waldera urges anyone with information as to the whereabouts of BRIAN HELGESON or LARS HELGESON to immediately contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 1-715-284-5357.

This is an ongoing investigation. Further information regarding this incident will be forthcoming, once information becomes available.

No photos are available at this time.

Missing Person Car From 1971 Missing Persons Case Found in South Dakota

Over four decades ago, two teens from Vermillion went missing. And it’s been years since there has been a lead in the 1971 missing person’s case of Cheryl Miller and Pamella Jackson. On Monday however that all changed after a resident found the car the two were in at the time of their disappearance.

The 1960 Studebaker Lark the two teens were driving in was found on an embankment in Brule Creek in rural Union County. Officials said the car has the same license plate and hub caps that were reported to officials after the girls went missing. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said this is the oldest case in the state with the most recent activity.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said, “Recent high water levels, followed by all-time low levels have made this discovery possible.”

On Monday morning the Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident. The person reported there was a car in Brule Creek under the bridge on 310th Street.

Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges said, “The vehicle was submerged. We could see the undercarriage of the vehicle and four tires sticking out of the water.”

That prompted officials to begin an investigation that would result in a stunning discovery that will hopefully finally give the families of Cheryl Miller and Pamella Jackson answers.

“On May 29, 1971, two teenagers, who were juniors at Vermillion, disappeared,” Jackley said.

Jackley said 17-year-old Miller and Jackson were driving to the gravel pits in the northern part of Union County for a party around 9:30 that night when they took a wrong turn and vanished.

In 2004, clothes, bones, a purse, and other items were found on a farm. The owner of the farm at the time of the incident, David Lykken was indicted on six different murder charges in the disappearance of Miller and Jackson. Those charges were dropped in 2008 after state prosecutors learned another prison inmate made up Lykken’s supposed admission. Lykken is currently serving an unrelated 227-year prison sentence for rape and kidnapping.

Jackley said at this time, they don’t know if anything in the car will connect him, or anyone else to the Miller and Jackson. He said investigators’ number one priority right now is to get the car out in one piece.
Jackley said the car has sat in the bottom of this creek for the last 42 years, and that has made the removal of it difficult. Jackley said the car is in bad shape, but investigators are doing what they can to get it out in one piece.

“It will come, and it will be part of forensics,” Jackley said.

Once the car is out of the river however, it will be processed for evidence. Jackley spoke with the Jackson family Monday who say they are so grateful for all of the hard work investigators are doing to help them find out what happened to Miller and Jackson.

Jackley said at this time they do not know if the disappearance criminal wrong doing, or accidental.

Pedophile Tracking Man Arrested in Omaha

Omaha police announced Sunday the arrest of a man they’re calling a sex offender.

Twenty-year-old Eh Gay is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

The girl told child workers she had been “dating” the man for almost two years.

A police report indicates the girl’s family tried to call police, but officers didn’t understand because of a language barrier. Thanks to the Child Protective Services hotline, they were able to report the crime.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The report says the girl’s parents told officers they tried to keep the man away from their daughter, but he wouldn’t stay away, even breaking through her bedroom window on “more than one occasion”.

The parents are also concerned Gay has shared sexually explicit photographs of their daughter.

Sexual Assault of a Minor is a Class 2 Felony. If convicted, Gay could face up to 50 years behind bars. The minimum sentence is one year.
