Missing Person Family Offers Reward for Corbin Man

A Southern Kentucky family is begging for the publics help in finding a loved one. Ricky Melton, 27, of corbin has been missing for the last 14 days. Now his family is offering a reward for his return.

“We’re devastated, worried, we are concerned we just want answers,” said Candace Melton, Ricky’s cousin.

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of questions and constant unknowns for family, all weighing heavily on those searching for Metlon. “We are just in a panic because we want to know something, we want to know where he is at, if he is okay,” said Candace.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Melton typically talks to his parents or twin brother daily. He was last seen on July 26th at his Corbin apartment. That night he called his father like usual, but no one has heard from him since.

“At his apartment his car was there, keys to his car and his apartment were inside the apartment and one of his cell phones was there. None of his clothes were gone, any of his personal belongings, none of it is gone,” said Candace.

The only thing missing was Melton’s other cell phone. For days the phone only rang, but now it goes straight to voice mail. All signs family said suggests something is wrong. “He’s been missing this long, I mean 14 days is a long time to go without somebody that you speak to everyday,” said Candace.

Now as the days add up, and the avenues of where to look dwindle, Melton’s family doesn’t know where else to turn. They’re holding onto hope, and asking for anyone and everyone’s help.

“We just wish somebody would come forward with some information… We just can’t get anywhere, at this point we are just asking for prayers,” said Candace.

Ricky Melton’s family is offering a $1,500 reward for information that leads to finding him. They are asking anyone who sees Melton, or has talked to him since he has been missing, to call Kentucky State Police.

Missing Person Car in CA Missing Teen Case Found in Idaho

A car belonging to a man suspected of killing a California woman and her young son and then fleeing with the 16-year-old daughter was found in the Idaho wilderness on Friday after horseback riders reported seeing the man and girl hiking in the area two days earlier, authorities said.

The riders reported seeing the two near Morehead Lake, an extremely rugged area about 70 miles northeast of Boise, around noon Wednesday, according to Ada County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Patrick Orr. They didn’t report it until later, after seeing news reports and realizing the pair was being sought.

Idaho authorities started searching Thursday and the car was found Friday morning. There have been no other reported sightings of the pair since Wednesday.

San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said when the riders saw the two, the girl, Hannah Anderson, did not appear as if she was being held against her will. He did not elaborate. She and the suspect, James Lee DiMaggio, 40, seemed healthy.

Brett Anderson, Hannah’s father, said he was “very happy” that Hannah was spotted alive. He said he couldn’t explain why his daughter didn’t ask the horseback riders for help.

“We don’t know what kind of frame of mind she was in or what he told her,” Anderson said. “Maybe if she acted differently, there would be more dead people.”

Hannah’s grandfather, Christopher Saincome, also was relieved and refused to try to explain the girl’s reaction to the riders.

“He could have strapped something to her and told her it was a bomb. He could have had her tethered to him,” he said. “I’m sure she’s totally in shock.”

The car, a blue Nissan Versa, was covered in brush off a road about 5 or 6 miles from the spot where the man and girl had been seen. The license plates had been removed, but the vehicle identification number matched that of the car being sought, Gore said.

Police previously warned that the car may be rigged with explosives. Bomb experts planned to examine it.

Morehead Lake is in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, a vast and rugged 2.3 million-acre preserve in the heart of Idaho. Because of its wilderness designation, the preserve is not open to motorized vehicles and traffic is limited to hikers and horseback riders.

The pine-blanketed area is at an altitude of about 7,800 feet and the lake itself is seven miles into the wilderness area. Temperatures were likely to fall into the high 30s Friday night.

Gore noted that DiMaggio bought camping gear a few weeks ago.

Authorities throughout the West have been looking for the teen and DiMaggio since the bodies of the girl’s mother, Christina Anderson, 44, and an unidentified child were found Sunday at DiMaggio’s burned home near the Mexican border about 65 miles east of San Diego.

The unidentified body is believed to be that of Hannah’s 8-year-old brother, Ethan. The body was badly burned and definitive identification hasn’t been made.

DiMaggio was close to the family. Brett Anderson has described him as a best friend and said his children thought of him as an uncle.

Authorities have said DiMaggio had an “unusual infatuation” with the 16-year-old, although the father said he never saw any strange behavior. If he had, he said, “we would have quashed that relationship in an instant.”

DiMaggio, a telecommunications technician at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, was planning to move to Texas and invited Christina Anderson and the children to his home last weekend to say goodbye, said Christopher Saincome, Anderson’s father.

It’s unclear how the two were killed, though police believe the crime was planned.

Brett Anderson said his friend is an outdoorsman.

“He was very interested in hiking and camping,” Anderson said. “Whenever he had the chance and had the funds he would go on a hiking trip.”

The Cascade area is an outdoorsman’s paradise. Perched along the southeastern shoreline of the Cascade Reservoir and The West Mountains, the town is a popular summer getaway for hikers, campers and kayakers.

DiMaggio and the teen were hiking when the horseback riders encountered them, Gore said. The riders noticed the pair had light camping gear even though it was an extremely rugged area with extreme temperature swings. Summertime highs can reach the 90s and nighttime temperatures fall to the 40s.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The riders “did seem to think the two of them were out of place in that area,” Gore said.

The sheriff said the riders chatted briefly with the couple but he didn’t reveal details of the conversation.

Pedophile Tracking 7 Busted in Sex Traffiicking Sting

The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office has released the names of three other men caught in sex trafficking sting operation in Sturgis.

Jerry Lane Golliher, 31, Eric D. Murphy, 27, and John Miller, 24, all of Rapid City, were arrested on felony sex trafficking charges as a result of investigations by the Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

The South Dakota residents join four out-of-state men charged in federal court out of the same operation, which involved the placement of escort ads on backpage.com and craigslist.com.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Criminal complaints were filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court against Timothy Gravens, 54, of Grapevine, Texas; Miguel Aguilar, 19, of Brighton, Colo.; Michael Francis Fox Jr., 43, of Owings, Md.; and Scott Faulk, 29, of Grand Junction, Colo.

Attorney General Marty Jackley said Wednesday that South Dakota law enforcement’s focus on sex crimes corresponds with an Internet-driven increase in prostitution and sex trafficking statewide.

“The increase in sex crimes we’re seeing at the rally corresponds with that,” Jackley said.

The enforcement efforts are the result of a partnership of the state Division of Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.

The cases of the men charged in federal court include an FBI affidavit detailing the operation. The cases were sealed by Wednesday afternoon, and U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson said he could not comment on the investigation.

Each of the four out-of-state defendants, all of whom are being held at hte Meade County Jail, allegedly negotiated with law enforcement and agreed to pay for sex with one or both of two underage girls, ages 12 and 13.

The ads used age-regressed photographs of women who now are adults.

According to the affidavits:

Faulk agreed to pay $140 for anal sex with the 13-year-old girl. He arrived to meet the FBI agents on a maroon Harley Davidson, carrying $139 in cash and a condom. Faulk is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond.

Fox agreed to pay $200 for one hour with the 12-year-old girl. He showed up to meet the “pimp” in a gray SUV, carrying condoms and cash. Fox is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.

Aguilar agreed to pay a quarter-ounce of marijuana, which he said was worth $130, for 30 minutes with the 13-year-old girl. He arrived on foot, with condoms and a bag filled with “a green, leafy substance.” Aguilar’s bond is set at $10,000 cash.

Gravens asked if the pimp had anyone younger, specifically a 10-year-old, and agreed to pay $300 for one hour with her as long as he could take pictures of her and did not have to wear a condom. He said he might offer repeat business for girls younger than 10. Gravens arrived on a black Harley Davidson. He was carrying cash and had two cameras on the motorcycle. Gravens’ bond is set at $5,000 cash.

Identity Theft NY State Warns of Scam Using Text Messages

The state Division of Consumer Protection has issued a warning to consumers about the dangers of unsolicited messages on cellphones from banks and phone service providers, which can really be attempts at identity theft.
The text messages ask recipients to click on an imbedded link or call a phone number. People are asked for personal identifiable information when they reply, such as a PIN or Social Security number.
The Consumer Protection office advises against ever sharing personal information, because legitimate companies would never seek it.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html
And if such a message is received, file a complaint with the phone service provider and the Federal Trade Commission at ftccomplaintassistant.gov.
Phone service providers will also block the sender’s number from your phone at no charge.
For more information about scam prevention and mitigation, contact the New York Department of State, Division of Consumer Protection, at 518-474-8583 or at dos.ny.gov.
