Missing Person Sean Sidi of San Francisco

The family of a missing teenager who recently suffered a traumatic brain injury continued their search for him today in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the teen’s mother said.

About 50 volunteers fanned out around the park’s Polo Fields searching for clues about the whereabouts of 19-year-old Sean Sidi, who was last seen in San Francisco on May 21, according to his mother Lynn Ching.

On the day of his disappearance Sidi went to visit a former high school teacher at 150 Oak St. in San Francisco around 11:40 a.m.

His last cellphone call to his father, Claude Sidi, was made around 1:30 p.m. and has been traced back to Golden Gate Park, Ching said. Search efforts have been focused at the park.

The family has since hired a private investigator, and following the detective’s advice set up an impromptu search effort this morning at the park, Ching said.

Speaking from the Beach Chalet near the park, Ching said about 50 volunteers came out around 9 a.m. scouring the area for clues.

“This is my child’s life at stake,” she said.

Sidi is considered at risk due to his medical condition, according to police.

Ching said a vigil is in the works to be held next week to keep the search for Sidi active.

Sidi is described as being a slim male of mixed Caucasian and Asian descent, with dark brown hair and eyes and braces on his teeth. He is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds.

Officers continued to interview the pair, but were unable to confirm the reason they were in the area. Through interviews with the neighbors, it was discovered that the pair had previously lived at the residence that was on fire.

Reportedly, officers located a crowbar and some rubber gloves inside of the vehicle that Wesson and Nelson were in, which raised more suspicion. Wesson and Nelson were ultimately arrested for loitering and prowling.

Further investigation concluded that Tamara Wesson’s mother, Clara Ann Harms, owned the vacant home that was on fire, which was currently in foreclosure.

The pair remain booked in the Polk County Jail without bond.

Arson Investigation Sedgwick County, KS Gentleman’s Club

Authorities think a fire that damaged an Oaklawn neighborhood gentleman’s club was intentionally set, Sedgwick County Fire Marshal Tavis Leake said.

The department is handling Saturday afternoon’s fire at Teddy Bare’s, 4858 S. Clifton, in conjunction with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and treating it as a possible burglary-arson, Leake said Saturday evening by phone.

liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

“We definitely have signs and evidence of an intentionally set fire,” he said, adding that no suspects had been identified as of Saturday.

Fire crews responding to the fire just before 2 p.m. found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the back of the club, Leake said. Although most of the fire was concentrated near a rear door, smoke damage occurred throughout the building, he added.

Leake estimated the property’s value at $83,390 and its contents at $10,000. He said both “are a total loss.”

The club, near 47th South and K-15, was closed when the fire started, he said.

Arson Investigation Teen Charged with Starting WIldfires in Montana

A teen charged with 12 counts of arson reportedly admitted to starting a string of wildfires because he wanted to work as a firefighter.

Fredrick James Maw, 18, of East Helena was formally charged with 12 counts of arson in district court on Thursday. He faces up to 240 years in prison for the offenses, which carry a maximum penalty of 20 years each.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

Maw was arrested the same day he allegedly started the fires in the York and Nelson area north of Helena on May 15. According to court documents, he acknowledged starting fires near Winston and on Priest Pass earlier in the week.

Maw reportedly told detectives that he wanted to start a fire in order to go to work as a firefighter so he could pay his mounting bills and debt.

Maw’s charges stem from the Priest Pass Fire, the Spokane Hills Fire near Winston and the string of fires that were sparked in the York and Nelson Gulch areas.

Authorities began questioning Maw when he was discovered near one of the fires dressed in firefighting gear. They also reportedly found incriminating evidence on his cell phone, connecting him with the fires at Spokane Hills in Broadwater County and in Priest Pass the week before.

According to court documents, investigators found a butane torch and fuel cylinder under the rear seat of his pickup, which was taken into evidence.

Maw remains in jail on a $100,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for June 20.

Missing Person Boaz Johnson Missing in Hawaii

A former Alaska man whose girlfriend was found strangled is missing in Hawaii and his family says he may also have been the victim of violence. Brittany Jane Royal was found dead from strangling and police have offered no new information in the case.

Family and friends of Boaz Johnson are still asserting his innocence, saying that they believe he was also a victim. Johnson, Royal’s fiance, has been a “Person of Interest” since the beginning of the investigation and have given misleading hints that he was a suspect at some point.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

His parents, Tom and Kathy Johnson, have traveled to Hawaii with their other son Mark, and are hopeful to find their son alive.

“We don’t even know where the tent is located,” Tom Johnson said, referrring to the campsite where his son and Brittany stayed.

“They told us that they have had people out there for a few days and searched around maybe 6 square miles and they had helicopters out there looking for him or any evidence. But as far as anything else, nothing that I can recall.”

The Johnsons last spoke to their son on May 27, one day before Royal’s body was found in fishing boat line off the lower coastline of Puna.Lt. Greg Esteban of the Hilo Criminal Investigations Section said police are pursuing leads in the case but have not found Bo Johnson.

“As a result, he is still considered a missing person and he is not excluded as a suspect in the (homicide) case,” he said.

Police photos of the campsite did not look like a crime scene, Kathy Johnson said.”There was a photo that showed their guitars and ukulele neatly stacked up in the corner of the tent,” she said.

“If there was a struggle in the tent, they probably should have been knocked around and on the ground.”

Police have sent evidence from the campsite to a forensic lab, Estaban said. The Johnsons met Royal in April in Alaska and learned she was pregnant.

The couple then traveled to Tustin, Calif., to see Royal’s parents. They planned to buy 10 acres of land on the Kalapana lava field to build a home and start an organic farm. Johnson spoke of the plans in his last conversation with his father.”

He was upbeat because he was about to do the most important thing he’d ever done in his life; that was to get that property the next morning,” he said.

Johnson didn’t appear for the property appointment. Police issued a bulletin about his disappearance May 30.

One of Johnson’s sisters said her brother had been threatened by a commercial lava tour operator after Johnson took a family out to see lava flows.

“He just showed up at my brother’s house in Kalapana,” she said. “He was under the impression that we’d been taking these people out to the lava for pay. He said he owned all 900 acres of the lava, that he owned it and that we weren’t allowed to go out there.”

The guide, she said, threatened to shoot up the house if Johnson persisted in giving tours.

Mark Johnson said he wants police to investigate the threats against his brother.

“Whatever channels it takes to go through the legal system, that’s what we’re gonna be willing to do,” he said.Tom Johnson said his son was not involved in Royal’s death.

“He would not do that,” he said. “This isn’t just two people who met and camped together one night. They were in love. He loved her and he was looking forward to having that baby and making a life for them out there. That was the most important thing to him.”

Insurance Fraud Mississippi Man Gets 2 Years

It’s two years in the pen for 35-year-old James Eric Reed after he pleaded guilty this week in two scams. Attorney Gen. Jim Hood said Reed tried to squeeze more money out of Nationwide Insurance Company that he deserved-more than $6,000 worth.

Hood said Reed was in two wrecks in 2011. In the first one he was rear-ended in D’Ibervile, then got treatment at the local hospital. Reed altered the bills and added treatment he did not get, then FAXed the claim back to the insurance company.

http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

In the second wreck, Hood said Reed actually submitted bills from another patient as his own, defrauding both Nationwide and Biloxi Regional Medical Center.

As part of his deal, Reed has to pay back the $6,400 he got out of the insurance company, plus $2,200 for the investigation, a $1,000 fine and $300 to the Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund.
