Identity Theft Sun Prairie, WI Woman Charged

A 24-year-old Sun Prairie woman was charged in Dane County Circuit Court recently with 14 counts of identity theft-financial gain in connection with the use of a debit card April 19-22.

Gaynisha Turner allegedly used a woman’s debit card for some disputed transactions, including some at Kwik Trip-East, 1252 W. Main; and Walgreens East, 275 Davison Drive.

The criminal complaint states a Sun Prairie Police Officer watched a video of the transaction at the Kwik Trip using the victim’s debit card. Police subsequently were able to match the description to an individual who was identified as Gaynisha Turner.

Investigating the transactions made with the debit card at the Walgreens store located on 275 Davison Drive in Sun Prairie, the officer obtained the Walgreen’s surveillance video and observed that the same individual made the transactions with the debit card at the Kwik Trip and the Walgreens.

The victim identified Turner as someone who does the victim’s hair and nails, and said it was possible that Turner kept her debit card for the entire weekend, according to the complaint.

The complaint states Turner was in the victim’s apartment prior to the fraudulent activity on her account.

Although she had never given her card physically to Turner, or at least had never given Turner her new debit card, the victim said she has never given her PIN number out to anyone on the new account.

The victim stated she keeps the card in her wallet, which is in her purse that sits up on her kitchen counter on a regular basis.

Each count carries maximum penalties of six years imprisonment and a fine of $10,000, meaning Turner could receive maximum penalties of 84 years imprisonment and a fine of $140,000.

A South Texas man who thought he was negotiating online with a mother offering her juvenile daughters for sex has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

A federal judge in Corpus Christi on Wednesday sentenced 30-year-old Daniel Ricardo Barrientos. A jury in March convicted the Corpus Christi man of soliciting a child for sex through the Internet.

Barrientos has been in custody since his December arrest.

Officials have identified the young man killed early this morning in a fiery scene on a heavily traveled stretch of I-75 in Lexington.

The coroner’s office has identified the victim as 22-year-old Michael McCall, from Cynthiana in Harrison County.

The wreck happened along I-75 near the Athens-Boonesboro Road exit. Traffic was down to one lane for several hours as crews worked to piece it all together.

Around 2 a.m. Wednesday this a pickup became wedged underneath the trailer of a semi, that police say was stopped on the side of the interstate. The pickup burst into flames, killing the driver from Cynthiana, 22-year-old Michael McCall.

“Everybody loved him. Always smiling. Full of life,” said Michael McCall, the victim’s father.

McCall’s father, who is also named Michael, is on his way back from out of state. He says his son, known to others as “Todd,” loved helping kids in and the 22-year-old also loved sports.

He describes his boy as a selfless person who went to church every Sunday and put everyone else’s needs before his own.

“A good hearted person. He had a great heart and would do anything for anybody. He never tried to be anybody he wasn’t. He was a magnet for friends,” McCall says.

The elder McCall says he believes his son was on his way back to Harrison County from a friend’s house, when the wreck happened, but as for a cause, McCalls’ family hopes they’ll know sooner rather than later.

The investigation continues to determine what caused McCall to lose control of his vehicle.
