Wrongful Death Jered Taylor Shot in Lexington

The Fayette County coroner has released the name of the victim in Saturday night’s deadly shooting. 26-year-old Jered Taylor died at the hospital after he was found at a neighbor’s house on Carver Road.

A neighbor, who only wanted to be identified as Andrew, says he heard 6 gunshots Saturday night. “When the bullets were hitting him he was still verbally saying ‘stop, why, no, don’t do this,’ type thing,” remembers Andrew, who also called 911.

Police continue to search for the person who was shot, but one neighbor was coming home from out of town when he says he discovered someone lying on his side steps.

“I got out of my truck and walked up to the door and I saw this body lying there,” remembers the neighbor, who did not want to be identified. “I did see him bound, with just duct tape across the wrists,” he remembers.

Carver Road, neighbors say, is a peaceful area, until Sunday night, that is. ” You’re like, ‘huh I was just about to have a cookout,’ and enjoy my weekend. Now here I am involved with this.”

Another witness told police he saw two men in white t-shirts and hats. At this point, police say they do not have any suspects and are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers.

Pedophile Tracking Code Revealed in Craigslist Sting

A recent undercover sting in Mobile, Ala., provides a window into the secret world of coded language pedophiles use online. And it’s shockingly simplistic.

Jurors heard opening statements yesterday in the case of Alan Preston Prine, 60, arrested last November after exchanging more than 200 emails with an undercover officer posing as a 32-year-old housewife offering up her two pre-teen kids for sex. The flurry of emails began with this message posted to the “Casual Encounters” section of Craigslist:

“P.hamily fun serious replies only bama won yes T.erday and kansas state lost don’t forget to H. elp the less fortunate this C. hristmas”

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Detective James Morton, who posted the ad, was using the capital letters as a simple code: In pedophile circles, PTHC stands for “pre-teen hardcore.” The ad was an invitation, and Prine took Morton up on his offer.

Prine’s lawyer is taking the “Internet as fantasyland” defense, claiming his client was simply role-playing. “It is not just officers who pose,” he told the court. “People on the Internet pose. This case presents a world of smoke and mirrors.”

Alan Preston Prine. Police photo.

A world of smoke and mirrors that nevertheless resolves into a pretty damning scene: Police busted Prine, carrying a pizza box, as he approached the supposed 32-year-old mother’s apartment on Nov. 20. Earlier, Prine had explained in explicit detail exactly what he hoped to get out of the encounter:

“Are you into that?” Prine had written to the detective earlier. “That,” referred to, in Prine’s words “sexual interaction between family members.”

Did the mom like to participate (in the incest and child rape) or just watch? “I enjoy both,” the detective replied, before asking Morton for his age preferences.

“9-plus,” Prine said,.

The children were about that old, the detective replied. They were ready and willing, he said.

Prine replied: “Wow, I’m speechless.”

If convicted, Prine faces 10 years to life in prison.

Wrongful Death Bardstown Police Officer Shot

The investigation continues into the shooting death of Bardstown Police officer, Jason Ellis.

33-year-old Ellis was shot multiple times Saturday morning on the Bluegrass Parkway. He was found by his car on exit 34 just after 2:30.

The Nelson County Coroner says Ellis was shot with a shotgun.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Police say Ellis was on his way home when he stopped his car on the exit ramp to remove some brush.

Ellis was the first Bardstown Police officer to be killed in the line of duty.

“We won’t give up until we have him in custody or in the front sight of one of our weapons. I personally hope the latter is the choice,” says Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin.

According to the Nelson County coroner, Officer Jason Ellis was in the front sight of a 12-gage shotgun. The coroner says whomever shot Officer Ellis was on a hill overlooking exit 34 of the Bluegrass Parkway. The coroner believes Ellis was ambushed, his service weapon was still holstered.

“Why would somebody do something like this? It’s just, it’s not right. It’s a sad day,” says John Ferguson, a friend of Officer Ellis.

Ferguson was one of many who showed up to watch the procession of police vehicles, as they followed the body of Ellis as he was taken from the crime scene to the medical examiner’s office.

Amidst the roar of engines and the noise of unanswered questions came a moment of silence; a day where hugs from emergency responders spoke louder than words. “Somebody doing his job and then he got ambushed like that it just isn’t right,” says Ferguson.

Those who knew Officer Ellis say the 7-year-veteran did everything you would expect an officer to do, like be there for his community. Now, his community is there for him.

Ellis was the department’s only K9 officer. Ellis leaves behind a wife and two sons.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Missing Person Search Continued Today for Kathlynn Shepard of Dayton, IA

The search today for missing teen Kathlynn Shepard is winding down this afternoon after dozens of officers and a handful of volunteers re-searched key hog confinement facilities, river banks and area parks, a state official said.

An organized search for Shepard, 15, will be suspended Sunday and Monday, said Bill Kietzman, special agent with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. He said volunteers may continue to comb the area near this north-central Iowa town in Webster County.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Police say Michael J. Klunder, 42, took Shepard and another girl, 12-year-old Dezi Hughes, Monday as they walked home from school.

Hughes managed to escape the hog confinement shortly after her abduction. Klunder hanged himself at a rural Dayton property that evening.

Law enforcement officials will regroup early next week to decide the next steps in the investigation. The two days off will be taken because officials have run out of “viable areas to search,” Kietzman said.

“We’ve searched everything numerous times,” Kietzman said. “At some point you have to trust your searchers that you’ve done a good search, and that she’s just not where you’d hope she would be.”

A steady rain and wind hampered the search today, the sixth day since the abduction. An Iowa State Patrol airplane equipped with a heat sensor stayed grounded because of the weather, Kietzman said. The plane will take flight when the weather clears. Rain is forecast for the next two days.

The soggy conditions did not slow the 70 officers and 15 volunteers called to help cover more ground with dogs and all-terrain vehicles, Kietzman said. Iowa Department of Natural Resources officers again searched the Des Moines River.

“We’d love to bring (Shepard) home to her family. Our plan is to bring her home,” Kietzman said. “With every day that passes, unfortunately, the odds are against us.”
