Identity Theft Arrest Made in Thousand Oaks, CA

A Costa Mesa man was behind bars Friday, suspected of identity theft in Thousand Oaks.

Kyle Zimmerman, 27, was taken into custody about 8:30 a.m. at the Ana Mesa Inn, 3597 Harbor Blvd., according to Ventura County sheriff’s Sgt. Alan Hartkop.

He remained in custody in lieu of $50,000, pending arraignment.

The arrest came following an investigation by the Thousand Oaks Fraud & Forgery Unit into a complaint by a resident who said someone tried to use personal information in an attempt to open several credit card accounts; money was also taken from the victim’s checking account, Hartkop wrote in a news release.

Investigators developed information on a suspect and served a search warrant at his home, where evidence linking him to the crime and possibly other identity theft cases was allegedly found, Hartkop said.

Detectives are trying to determine whether there are other victims, the sergeant said.

Missing Person Tiffany McDaniels of Coatesville, PA

Police are searching for a 14-year-old girl who has not been seen since she left school on Friday, May 17.According to the Coatesville Police Department, Tiffany McDaniels was discovered missing when her mother returned home around 4:30 p.m. Friday in the first block of South Eighth Avenue.

The teen was not home when her mother arrived and no family members or friends have heard from her since, according to police.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Police said McDaniels has a history of running away — she took off just two weeks ago and once in December 2012 — but investigators are treating this disappearance as a missing person’s case. Investigators said the teen has not attempted to contact anyone, she does not have a cell phone, and her Facebook account was deleted.

“We have no proof of her running away, so despite her history of running away we have to treat this as a missing person and make sure we do everything we can to get her home safe,” said Coatesville Detective Sergeant Brandon Harris.

Harris said McDaniels has relatives in Philadelphia, but investigators spoke with the family and learned that they have not heard from the teen. Police did receive reports that McDaniels may have been spotted Friday afternoon with two other teen girls, Harris said.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in determining McDaniels’ whereabouts. Anyone with information about her location is asked to contact the Coatesville Police Department at 610-384-2300 or dial 911.

Pedophile Tracking 2 Indicted by Warren County Grand Jury

A Bowling Green woman and a Rockfield man were indicted Wednesday by a Warren County grand jury on a combined total of 100 counts of rape, sodomy, unlawful transaction with a minor and unlawful transaction with a minor by complicity involving a 15-year-old boy.

The woman, who is the teen’s mother, was charged after she admitted to police earlier this month she gave consent to Rickey W. Powell, 55, 1525 Shakertown Road, Rockfield, to engage in a sexual relationship with her 15-year-old son, according to Warren County District Court records.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The Daily News does not identify alleged victims of sexual crimes. The newspaper is not naming the mother in this case in order to protect her son’s identity.

The woman was indicted on 25 counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor by complicity, five counts of third-degree rape by complicity and 20 counts of third-degree sodomy by complicity, according to the indictment.

Powell was charged with 25 counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, five counts of third-degree rape, 20 counts of third-degree sodomy and second-degree persistent felony offender, the indictment states.

Powell is listed on the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry after a previous sexual abuse conviction involving a 9-year-old.

In the current case against Powell, the 15-year-old boy told police earlier this month that he and Powell had sex more than five times, most recently this month at his mother’s home, court records show. The boy also said that he and Powell engaged in other sexual activity more than 20 times.

The boy’s mother told police she knew her son and Powell were having sex at her house and that she liked Powell “because he was good to her son,” court records show.

The boy’s mother allowed Powell to take the 15-year-old on a vacation to Gulf Shores, Ala., according to court records.

The woman also told authorities that she allowed Powell to sleep in bed with her son.

Powell told police he knew the boy was 15 and that he was involved in a romantic relationship with him, court records show. Police saw a love letter and a Valentine’s Day card from Powell in the boy’s room, court records show.

The indictment states that the alleged crimes occurred on or between Feb. 15 and May 8.

Each count against Powell and the juvenile’s mother presents a separate event during that period, said Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney Chris Cohron.

Powell and the teen’s mother were arrested Thursday on the indictment and are in the Warren County Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bonds each, online jail records and the indictment show.

“Both individuals face a maximum sentence of 70 years” if convicted on the charges against them, Cohron said.

Arraignment for both people is expected in about a week in Warren Circuit Court.
