Missing Person Norton Shores, MI Case Classified as Abduction

The Norton Shores Police Department has reclassified the missing person investigation of gas station employee Jessica Heeringa as an abduction or kidnapping.

Norton Shores Police Chief Dan Shaw said based on the investigation and evidence that it appears that Heeringa was preparing to close the Exxon Mobil gas station at 1196 E. Sternberg Road when the incident occurred.

Heeringa, 25, was supposed to be working but not able to be located after police were called to the gas station at about 11:15 p.m. Friday. Customers had called 911 after entering the store and finding no employees present, police have said.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“The caller indicated that the store was still open, however there was no clerk inside the store,” said Norton Shores Police Chief Dan Shaw. “Officers responded and confided that indeed the clerk, Jessica Heeringa, was missing at that time.”

Her purse and other belongings were found undisturbed, along with cash in her purse, according to police. The cash register was also left out and there was no money missing, police said.

There was no struggle inside the store and it is apparent that “burglary or robbery was not the cause of this incident,” Shaw said during a press conference Sunday, April 28.

Based on tips that the Norton Shores Police Department has received, investigators are currently searching for a silver minivan, possibly a Chrysler Town & Country, that was last seen in the area prior to Heeringa’s disappearance. The evidence is based on a passerby observing the car parked near the gas station and driving away, police said.

The driver is described as a white male, approximately 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall, medium to heavy build with broad shoulders, light brown or sandy blonde wavy hair parted in the middle and slightly longer on top. He was last seen wearing a bright red or orange sweatshirt, police said.

Heeringa is described as a white female, 5 feet 1 inch tall, about 110 pounds, with blond, shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. Heeringa is also known to wear wired rim glasses. She may be wearing a blue collared shirt with “Sternberg Exxon” on it, the police chief said.

“Last time we can absolutely say for sure she was seen in the store was at approximately 10 minutes before 11:00,” Shaw said. “We received a call about 11:15, so there is about a 20-minute window time there, so it could’ve happened anywhere in that time.”

Police are not sure whether Heeringa knows the man they are looking for with the minivan.

“I wouldn’t want to assume … that she did or did not know who this was,” Shaw said.

In addition, the gas station did not have security cameras and police believe that she was the only person working at that time, police said.
A task force of investigators from the Norton Shores Police Department, Michigan State Police, Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office, Muskegon Police Department and Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office are all investigating the case.

“At this time four persons of interest have been interviewed and cleared in this disappearance,” Shaw said.

The department has also contacted FBI.

Shaw said anyone who may have tips to contact Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME (231-722-7463) or call 911.

Missing Person Searchers Comb River for Missing Toddler

The search continues Sunday in Maywood today, for the body of a young boy who police say was dumped in the Des Plaines river.

At 6 this morning, KJ trainer Rob Larson and a small contingent of volunteers began combing the Des Plaines River for 1 year old Bryeon Hunter, “No kid deserved to be disposed of like that, I have kids myself, and it just hit my heart,” said Larsen.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Larsen has been out here for days searching the stretch of the river. Authorities believe Hunter’s body may have been dumped; allegedly by his mother and her boyfriend.

Emotions over the boy and the efforts to find him are high. The group is frustrated with what they call a lack of effort.

“We don’t have help from the village of Maywood. I don’t understand it,” said search volunteer Marvin Edwards.

Maywood police were at a different section of the river, searching with the Illinois Search and Rescue Council; an effort they say has continued since this case started, “Day and night we’ve been searching the general area, the home, trailers, trucks, parking lots, garbage cans. We even searched the river,” said Maywood Police Chief Tim Curry.

With the water level down and nice weather today dozens of search crews combed the river with dogs and on foot.

It’s a careful process police say is best handled by professionals – in order to preserve the crime scene or any evidence found along the way.

With the historic rains we’ve had, There is the possibility Bryeon wont be found in this area, but that fact is not stopping search efforts.

Chief Curry says they will be out here as long and as often as is necessary.

Insurance Fraud Hunterdon County, NJ Pediatrician Facing 10 Years

A Hunterdon County pediatrician is facing up to 10 years in prison for allegedly overbilling the federal Medicaid program by more than $73,000 during the course of more than three years, authorities said Friday.

Ibilola Ighama-Amegor, 51, of Hampton, was charged Thursday with 17 counts of second-degree health-care claims fraud and one count each of third-degree Medicaid fraud and third-degree theft by deception, according to New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa.

http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

“This defendant allegedly billed as if she was working 24 hours a day,” acting state Insurance Fraud Prosecutor Ronald Chillemi said in a statement. “The Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor will continue to crack down on unscrupulous individuals who defraud the Medicaid program, which provides vital assistance to vulnerable New Jersey residents.”

Ibilola-Amegor is accused of overbilling Medicaid from her Newark-based practice, Quality Pediatrix, which investigators reportedly found to be open just seven hours per day, three days a week. Yet Ibilola-Amegor allegedly falsely billed for 24 hours or more of work on 17 days between Jan. 1, 2008, and May 16, 2011, authorities said.

In addition to up to 10 years in prison, Ibilola-Amegor is facing potential fines of $150,000 on each second-degree charge and $15,000 on each third-degree charge, according to the Attorney General’s office.

Ibilola-Amegor did not immediately return a phone call placed to her Newark offices Friday afternoon. Online listings for her practice indicate that she studied medicine at the University of Benin in Nigeria and has worked in the field of medicine for nearly 25 years

Missing Person Jessica Heeringa of Norton Shores, Mich.

25 year old Jessica Heeringa vanished between 10:55 p.m., and 11:30 p.m., Friday night, and as of April 27, 2013 the search for her is heating up. NBC Wood TV 8 out of Grand Rapids reports that the Norton Shores Police Department is seeking help from the public in locating her or in finding clues to what might have happened to her. The circumstances surrounding this developing case are immediately suspicious. Was this beautiful young woman kidnapped from her job?

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Jessica was working at the Exxon station at 1196 E. Sternberg Rd. in Norton Shores, Mich., but when customers showed up late last night to an empty store it was apparent that something happened. Her last transaction was logged at around 10:55 p.m., and the customers who reported her disappearance noticed the store was empty between 11: 15 and 11:30 p.m. Her loved ones have been contacted but none of them have heard from her since before her shift. She’s described as 5’1″, 110 lbs., with blue eyes and blonde hair. She may be wearing a blue work shirt with the Exxon logo on it.

This source shares that it had been since around 2:00 p.m., Friday, that anyone had heard from or seen Jessica. This is immediately perplexing as it has now been 24 hour since anyone has made contact with her. The first 48 hours are the most important in locating a missing person, and now that half that time is gone it’s time for investigators to kick the search into gear. There aren’t any indications that this missing woman has a history of disappearing, so that lends to the urgency.

Was Jessica Heeringa kidnapped while working her job at Exxon in Norton Shores, or did she vanish voluntarily? It seems fishy that she’d disappear in the middle of her work shift, leaving the service station unattended in the dead of night. The only way this behavior would make sense would be if the young woman has a history of drug use or other erratic behavior. Does she? Does this woman live a high risk lifestyle or involve herself with shady people at all? Is she in a rocky relationship or just coming out of one? There are several different theories that could be had about this case, but it’s still developing. Hopefully officials in Norton Shores can get down to the bottom of this. A source close to me says that there might have been a man spotted near the gas station around the time of her disappearance, but it’s unknown at this time if the man is being considered suspicious. He looks to be in his 40s, is short and chubby and has a grey beard. More details will certainly follow. In the meantime, please share the included flyer and get the word out about Jessica’s mysterious disappearance.

Wrongful Death Gilmer, TX Man Indicted

A Gilmer man was indicted by an Upshur County grand jury Thursday on one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the Feb. 6 stabbings of three people, according to District Attorney Billy Byrd’s office.

Eddie Douglas Baker, 26, is charged with killing 45-year-old Tana Fuller Warren, of Gilmer, and stabbing two Hughes Springs residents, Matthew Weems, now 18, and Melissa Cahill, 28. Weems and Ms. Cahill were hospitalized, but recovered, Byrd said.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Baker remained in county jail Friday under bonds of $850,000 on the murder charge and $250,000 on each of the two aggravated assault charges. He admitted in a videotaped statement to fatally stabbing Ms. Warren and putting her in the back of his mobile camper at 7248 Ginger Road northeast of Gilmer, according to information released in February by the offices of Precinct. 2 Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter and Byrd.

The state alleges Baker killed Ms. Warren, who he had been dating, before the other stabbings, Byrd said Friday. When Baker later attacked Weems, then 17 years old, outside the camper, Ms. Cahill heard the disturbance, came outside, and was also stabbed, the prosecutor alleged.

Weems and Ms. Cahill, who were hospitalized at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, recovered, Byrd said Friday.

No trial date has been set or an arraignment held for Baker, represented by Longview attorney Charles Van Cleef, the prosecutor said.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call at 5:41 p.m. Feb. 6, and deputies learned two people had been stabbed, Sheriff Anthony Betterton said in a statement released Feb. 7. The officers also learned the suspect had poured gasoline on a travel trailer and threatened to set it on fire, Betterton said.

“Upon deputies’ arrival, two victims were located who were both transported to an area hospital,” and officers also “located the suspect, who fled on foot,” Betterton said. The suspect, whose name was not mentioned in the sheriff’s news release, was subsequently found and arrested on the two assault charges, Betterton said.

“It was later reported to the Sheriff Office that a woman who lives with the suspect was missing and (had) not been heard from or seen since Tuesday (Feb. 5),” the sheriff said. Deputies took a missing person report from a relative before returning to the missing woman’s home to try to locate her, he said.

“Upon their arrival deputies found evidence that led (them) to believe the woman may possibly be injured inside the residence,” Betterton said.

They found her dead inside, he said.

Potter said he pronounced Ms. Warren dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy be performed at Forensic Medical of Texas—Tyler.

Affidavits dated Feb. 6 quoted Deputy M. Gilow, one of the officers dispatched to the scene, as saying the disturbance call was that Baker had poured gasoline onto the unidentified reporting party’s trailer “and was about to set it on fire.”

“While en route to the location, we were advised that a stabbing had also taken place with Baker as the actor,” Gilow said in the document. “Upon my arrival, I observed two involved parties/victims running up Ginger Road screaming ‘Eddie is still at the house.’”

Gilow said two units went to check on the actor at the location while he tried to render aid to the victims. Shortly after deputies arrived at the stabbing scene, Baker ran from them, but was later apprehended, Gilow said.

The victims said Baker purposely stabbed them, “causing severe laceration and puncture wounds on both victims,” and that they were attacked without “warning after a small argument,” Gilow reported.
In another affidavit, Sheriff’s Investigator Chris McCauley said that during an active investigation Feb. 7, he interviewed Baker about the discovery of the body of Ms. Warren, “who had been reported as a missing person.” Baker “confessed in his video statement that he had killed Warren by stabbing her and placed her in the back of his residence. Due to this information, Baker was charged with murder,” McCauley said.

Judge Potter said he believed Gilow arrested the suspect at Baker’s home Feb. 6.
