Private Detective Lexington Police Searching for Robbery Suspect

Lexington police are investigating the second robbery attempt at a Lexington gas station this month.

Police say a man armed with a chrome handgun walked into the Shell station at the corner of Russell Cave Road and New Circle Road around 4:30 a.m. Monday. He demanded cash and threw a book bag at the clerk to fill. When the clerk refused, the robber walked behind the counter and cocked the weapon. The clerk jumped over the counter to escape, and the suspect ran out the front door.

The robber was last seen running toward the Hollow Creek area. A K9 tracked a scent to the area, but eventually lost the trail.

Police describe the suspect as a black man standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 130 pounds. He was dressed in all black with a white shirt covering his face.

The clerk suffered a minor injury to his hand jumping over the counter.

The Shell station was previously robbed back on Monday, Sept. 3.
