Police are investigating after a Letcher County man was shot and killed late Wednesday night.
The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. in Gordon. Police say Wayne Duff, 37, was shot to death when he allegedly tried to break into the home of James Brown. Police say a verbal altercation occurred between the two and threatening remarks were made toward Brown. Duff then began to approach Brown and Brown discharged a handgun toward Duff, striking him in the chest.

No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation will be presented to a Letcher County grand jury. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police.
